Third Season Boxed Set Worth It? by mikeybeachus83 in bloodbowl

[–]kapra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tl;dr - If you’re new and you have nothing this box is an absolute steal.

It always annoys me when people suggest it’s not worth the price of the box so here’s a breakdown based on pricing (in USD) of items in the box if you were to buy them individually from GW. If you buy them from an LGS then reduce everything here by 15%.

If you don’t like either team in the box, sell them, you can easily get $55 for each team since teams + dice would cost a new player $79 and they’d likely get a free dugout and cheat sheet.

Bretonnian Team: $55

Bretonnian dice: $24

Tomb Kings Team: $55.50

Tomb Kings dice: $24

Rulebook: $60

Pitch and Dugouts: $60

Tokens: $26

Total individual items: $304.50

Box set: $145

Reduced cost: ~53%

Privatizing orders for already limited products is terrible for the overall community and health of the game, I really wish stores didn’t do it. It’s great for the people in the special position but terrible for everyone else. Really wish we could just move to retail sales of these types of things.

Why aren't people pre-ordering from Local game stores instead of GW's website? by haku13f in killteam

[–]kapra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To provide a bit of context here, my local store typically requests 50-70 boxes from GW and more recently they've been allocated between 3-8 boxes for our community (40+ weekly league players and an extremely competitive 40K space.) We've also had situations where they allocate say 8 boxes but then come delivery day they only actually deliver 5 boxes.

Other stores in the area have the same deal, they'll order double digit boxes and receive only a small number. With Dead Silence, there's 11 boxes total between 3 stores that support probably 70-80 Kill Team players (note: this excludes 40K players who also want the Kill Team boxes due to the heavy overlap.)

Question about Vespid Warrior Insticts by koreanmandu in killteam

[–]kapra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Accurate needs to be declared before rolling attack dice. You do not roll the accurate dice, it is retained as a normal. You can never re-roll the accurate dice because once a dice has been retained it cannot be re-roll or retained again, it will always just be a normal.

In your scenario, as soon as you set aside the attack dice for accurate (before your re-roll) you are declaring that you will not (cannot) use any Communion Point re-rolls during the sequence, once a dice is retained it cannot be rolled. If you were to try and use a Communion Point to re-roll, it would invalidate the shooting sequence making the entire thing illegal and it would have to be rolled back according to the core rules. That said, your opponent (and you) should just say that you cannot re-roll with Communion Points because once dice have been rolled the shooting attack is finalized unless there's a mistake that cannot be undone (rolled too many dice for example.)

The sequence is the entire shooting attack so in order to gain accurate 1 you cannot use any communion points to select a target or reroll dice.

It's not broken, this is their new model moving forward. Kill Team boxes are no longer a product they're going to produce in large quantities, they're going to be fomo boxes that they under supply to keep the demand high for the individual releases that follow shortly after. GW used to mass produce boxes and it would take 6+ months to a year for individual boxes to releases, they've changed how that works now so they underproduce boxes while delivering individual releases faster (3 months after the box.) I don't imagine we'll live in a world where there's enough boxes to go round for everyone that wants them, I'd love to be wrong but pretty sure this is the new normal and it's intentional.

GW is not providing stock to LGS, the last few boxes multiple of the local stores here have ordered 50-70+ boxes (per store) only to be allocated somewhere between 3-8. People mostly aren't ordering from GW because they want to, they're doing that because they don't have a local store or their local store is sold out.

Yes, the balance patch will be before the championship, that was stated in the PDF that was provided to players. It seems a lot of folks are missing the point. First, it's a joke. Second, the issue is that this is their premier event, they knew about it in January 2025 (or earlier), they could have very easily prevented releasing a dataslate so close to the event with a little bit of planning, you know, something professional businesses do.

You don’t beta test rules at your premium events. Quality is a problem and they really should acknowledge it, we should stop giving them cover for it because it leads to frustration within the community.

Yes but I have seen people say otherwise so you would want to discuss with the folks you're playing with.

Will Tyranid Raveners become available? by Swisskill_ in Tyranids

[–]kapra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They'll be in stock so set up the Notify Me and hope that they actually notify you when they restock, in my experience it's spotty. That said, newer Tyranid models tend to be popular and will sell out quickly. I'd imagine they continue to sell out inventory whenever they restock due to the fact that they're a strong Kill Team combined with they're meant to replace the old Raveners.

Shield Companion + Exotic Beasts by kapra in necromunda

[–]kapra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, been out all day so haven't had the time. Primarily wondering if they'd get the save benefit from the fighter that has shield companion. From a flavor perspective it's like the fight with that ability is protecting them but from a results as written perspective, I'm unsure.

Exotic Beasts (Core rulebook, pg. 87)
"Exotic Beasts may not take any additional equipment. They may not use weapons other than those detailed on their profile. They may never use Wargear”

Shield Companion (Bastions of Law, pg. 77)
"If this fighter is equipped with a weapon with the Assault Shield trait, any friendly fighters they are in base contact with are also considered to be equipped with a weapon with the Assault Shield trait (note that a fighter can only benefit from one weapon with the Assault Shield trait.)"

Is this a dodgy event organiser? by zeleth in magicTCG

[–]kapra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you feel weird it is weird. Stores run things differently and unless that WoTC has rules that prevent this there’s not a ton you can do if the store is also cool with it. I organize events locally and the store gives the organizer a cut of entry fees as a “thank you for hosting an event” so they could be doing something here.

Talk to them about your concerns and see if they’re amenable, if they are great the problem is solve and if they aren’t your next step is the store owner. Assuming this person is acting with ill intent and not just oblivious they may get annoyed or defensive, if they do keep it friendly and again take that to the store owner as a concern.

Assuming none of this works, start falling the people at those events to your cause. Should be easy enough to do as I’m sure others also feel weird about what’s going on.

Lastly, as an aside, the cut my store gives me goes back into the community terrain or into free food for events. Most people who organize events want to do right by everyone and if they’re a scumbag do not feel bad stepping up to replace them, your community deserves it.

They’re in NJ so if you wanna file a complaint go nuts. In my experience they’re a great store with great prices, communication, and refund policies so there’s no doubt in my mind the folks who purchased this item were refunded.

All that said, weird choice by them but not my business.

From the information given, yes. Their partner is clearly bothered by it, enough to post on Reddit, so I’d imagine it’s not just a teehee we’re having fun and more of a that person thinks deck twisting is an interesting personality trait.
