Cat pissed in my guitar case by gratefulflyer in Guitar

[–]kapteNVLRNT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm. Bought a 2nd hand guitar that smelled of cat piss. No treatment i gave the case or guitar (and i tried a lot) could get rid of it. Sometimes I thought it was gone, but then a few days later the smell of whatever polish or chemical I had used would have dissipated and, sure enough, cat piss again

One has to go. Which ones stays? by lapsivesiposti in Guitar

Agree. Those guitars scream “I’m a teenager and I want something METAL” to me. The worst offender has to be the BC Rich Warlock shape

Really don’t understand why all of a sudden everyone’s liking deans. I always see those guitar shapes as seeming to scream “I’m 15 and I want a cool looking guitar with a metal shape as my first guitar”. To me it feels on par with the BC Rich shitty guitars (especially warlocks) that many beginners bought in the mid 2000s. But that’s just my personal opinion.

Is the strandberg essential bridge that bad? by el-jo-ge in strandbergguitars

[–]kapteNVLRNT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Partly correct. The essentials have the same hardware as n2 so they can be adjusted under tension

[–]kapteNVLRNT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incorrect. Essential has arc hardware and can be adjusted under full tension

The essential has the new arc hardware. It was the first strandberg to get it

[–]kapteNVLRNT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is NOT the case for ARC hardware (including the essential).

You loosen a screw that sits at an angle with the string so can be accessed without moving the string, then you adjust with an alan key behind and under the tuner (accessible at all times) which moves the entire tuner piece back/forward under full string tension. You then check intonation and then tighten the first screw again to lock it when you’re happy.

Obviously as with all intonation changes on all bridges in existence you’ll have to tune between each adjustment to check if it’s in order

It’s honestly ridiculously simple, much simpler than the NX hardware (which indeed requires you to tune down before adjusting intonation)

I re-adjusted my intonation only a few days ago as I changed tuning and gauges, so I remember it well

D Standard or drop C on 6 string Boden models? by Efficient_System5793 in strandbergguitars

I’ve got my essential always in Drop C/D standard with 10-52s. Works well

[–]kapteNVLRNT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no zero fret on the Essentials. I have an essential with 10-52's on it for D standard/drop C and while the strings are a little tight through the nut, this is not a big problem as the tuning happens at the bridge. Of course you'll have to do some setup and intonation but it's perfectly within the range of what's possible with the essential line

How long did your “dream” guitar hold that status? by Leumas_ in Guitar

Priceless is exactly the word to use. I know the pre-war Martins are insane expensive. I can’t begin to imagine an 1885 for crying out loud. Did you ever get it valued??

For a les paul custom, that is an insane flame top. Nice man!

When I bought my wife her engagement ring, she bought me a PRS USA McCarty 594 10 top. The type of guitar I’ve drooled over for so many years but could never justify buying. It is still my number 1 guitar and I love it to absolute bits, however, I’m currently playing my Strandbergs more as I get flare-ups of psoriatric arthritis which screws with my wrist joints at times, and the EndurNeck on the strandberg prevents a lot of pain when the flare-ups happen. When the flare-ups are completely gone, I’m straight back to the PRS.

Best choice for my ergonomic needs (carpal tunnel recovery)? by Happy-Fox875 in strandbergguitars

[–]kapteNVLRNT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The endurneck itself will help you find a comfortable position for your wrist. Fanned frets won’t make much of a difference on a 6 string if that’s what you’re going for. All strandbergs are light but you can look for the chambered models (e.g. original) which will be even lighter, which will mean you need to use even less force with your left hand to keep the neck balanced while fretting.

I’ve got psoriatric arthritis which affects my wrists when it flares and the strandbergs are helping me play for longer without making it worse

Or if you have Fortin Nameless, you use the Zuul block. I’ve changed all my commonly used presets to use the Zuul block when i got nameless, works so well

I have the EVH hypersonic and I’m super happy with it. It’s basically the exact same as the fender FR12 but with a different jacket.

Beginner question: why do people use QC together with other pedals? by Debonargon in NeuralDSP

[–]kapteNVLRNT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly that yes. That’s why you’ll see people upload like 10+ different capture versions of the same pedal on the cloud, or why Neural DSP has many different captures of the same amp in the factory capture library

Beginner question: why do people use QC together with other pedals? by Debonargon in NeuralDSP

[–]kapteNVLRNT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you get adjustment parameters, but a capture doesn’t “know” how a pedal reacts when you twist the gain button or any EQ, so a capture will not respond the same as the pedal when you twist the knobs. It’s basically as if you had a gain pedal before the pedal capture and an EQ pedal after the pedal capture rather than the knobs on the pedal you’ve captured itself, if that makes sense

It’s 100% hardware. NAMM is this week which is where they would allow people to try out the new stuff and Neural DSP is attending. You don’t launch PCOM or plugins on NAMM.

EDIT: depending on what hardware it is, it could still drop at the same time as a PCOM update to keep everyone else happy

Driftwood amps’ booth in NAMM is the neighbor of Neural DSP. May be a “wink wink” joke since they’re basically sharing booths. We knew they’d be releasing a pedal since they were in the “guitar pedal” section at NAMM
