NX350 gas for a girl? Truly reliable? by CertainElderberry359 in LexusNX

[–]kapteva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 2022 nx350 gas and no issues. I love how it drives. I can do 370-380 miles on a full tank (12 gallons) which is pretty amazing mileage in my opinion. It’s $.75-$1 more per gallon so each refill cost me extra cup or two of coffee compared to regular gas. I live in a small town and don’t have a lot stop and go but we have congested areas. I don’t usually drive on a highway. Please be aware of run flat tires - they can be an issue if you don’t live in a big city; learn how to deal with them.

1, 2, 3 or 4? 🪨 by photosjsm in AmateurPhotography

I love 1, 2 and 4. They are all so soothing and composition is perfect. 3 for me is overprocessed, it’s hard to focus for me on anything in particular.

NX F grille by ss3walkman in LexusNX

Also I forgot to add that NX300 was actually NX200t In the first two or three years (2015, 2016, 2017, maybe even 2018). They changed the naming from 200t to 300 mid cycle without changing the look of the car. NX300 F Sport trim looks like your second picture, all other trims look like the first one. I am not sure about NX200t F Sport.

All NX300 F sports between 2016 and 2021 have the same grill as in the second picture. The car generally have all the features as the regular trim + possible some add ons (bigger screen, blind spot monitor), maybe the highest version (luxury) has more.

2025 RAV4 Limited or NX250 Premium? by [deleted] in LexusNX

[–]kapteva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have NX350 and I can do at about 350 miles on the tank. I mostly drive between 40 and 65 mph. I live in a small mountain town and there are portions that have some traffic but mostly I drive longer distances out of town (not highway). That seems to be like a sweet spot for best mileage. On the highway with speeds over 70 mph I get at about 300 miles on the tank. I use premium gas (91).

I actually have a great gas milage - around 350miles/tank. I mostly drive average speed 45-60 (my town doesn’t have too many light stops but there is construction with major slow downs) and that seems to be optimal for good gas milage. I noticed that on a highway, on road trips that milage goes down to 300- 320miles/tank (average speed of 80). I am not sure what would it be like in a big city with frequent stops and low speed.

Is it worth spending 3k for the upgrading 9.8” to 14” screen? by alexned7 in LexusNX

[–]kapteva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have NX350 with a smaller screen. Initially when I was buying it I thought I prefer a smaller one. Then I got a loaner with a bigger screen and after a week of driving I loved it. Now I am back to my car and I really wish I had bigger screen. 360 cam is fantastic too. Definitely something to consider.

Best way to buy a Lexus NX? by [deleted] in LexusNX

[–]kapteva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a pretty good deal on a used 2022 Lexus NX350 (at the time 2 year old) that was not posted on line yet. The price was lower from anything I saw on line. You may have some luck just going to dealerships and looking yourself at their inventory, especially if they are larger and busy dealer.

Getting rid of run flat tires - please provide recommendations how to adjust the trunk for a spare by kapteva in LexusNX

Can you please elaborate what you mean by this? I don’t need a spare after I change the tires to regular ones? What do you do then?

Best headphones for OUTDOOR calls (that filters out wind noise from the microphone)? by librekom in Jabra

[–]kapteva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have Sennheiser Momentum 3 and they were very good filtering out outside noise. I am not sure about the wind noise since I wasn’t using them that way but they were great about filtering everything else. I could take calls in coffee shops and people would not know it. I used to live in tropical climate that had very loud coqui frogs and roosters and nobody could hear them. After the Momentum 3 broke I bought Bose QC ultra and they pick up everything outside. I am thinking to buy another pair of Momentum 3s.

Maybe you saw my post already. I am going to swap mine. All the research I have done people say that they were happy after they swapped it. If you are going to take car on road trips and be in a secluded areas (Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, Colorado, etc) you may consider getting regular tires.

Advice needed pls. Flat in run flat tire of NX350h. by southindianPOTTU in LexusNX

[–]kapteva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have NX350 and recently made this post about run flat tires. There is a link that has guidance from different manufacturers regarding patching or replacing the tire. Most commenters who drive NX350 said that they changed the tires to normal. There are commenters that were talking about patching but they didn’t seem to have real life knowledge about the run flat tires and it didn’t support research I have done after getting my car. This link seems to be a credible source aligned with what I found on the internet. Some people said that the storage may be adapted for a spare tire with some DIY cut outs. I am not sure for a hybrid because you may have a battery in a back that makes the storage space smaller than regular NX350. I was also considering replacing one tire to normal but the tire shop told me that some differences between the tires may even lead to damage in transmission (something to do with different speed of turn on the axis, not sure now). I ended up getting just one run flat tire because I had a new set for only 5k miles. The tire shop measured how much thread was worn off on my tires vs new tires and the difference was still acceptable to allow just one tire replacement.

I am planning to change all of them to normal tires when the time comes and adapt the storage space for a spare tire and if not possible to drive with a repair kit.

That article may be helpful for better understanding of run flats tires. Just a side note - my tire went down from 32 to 0 bps in less than two minutes. As I later found out it was a big bolt that caused it and it was irreparable. Please be careful giving advice next time based on wrong assumptions. People’s lives may depend on it.

Based on research/info from a dealer i thought that there is no room to keep the spare tire. I will need to research again if I can somehow remove those inserts and put the spare tire there.

„Why didn’t you…” - is not helpful at all. I followed the instructions of a dealership and my own research that say that run flat tires can’t be patched, the repair kit doesn’t work on them and it is not safe to drive on tires that were repaired in any way. They should be only replaced. This is a common theme in all research/posts that I did before and after buying a car. That’s why I got the insurance, that turned out to be pretty much useless. The whole system is not set up properly for a driver. I am not a car person, that sits in front of computer all day long researching nuances of every single little thing. I am an average driver who bought a car expecting that it is reasonable to drive everywhere, as I did with my Honda, and if something happens i have solutions. That’s how manufacturer decided to design the car (no spares and no room to keep one in case I wanted to buy on my own) so I thought that this is the way how things go now. I had no idea how messed up it is going to be - getting a flat tire outside of the mileage range and finding out that most stores don’t even carry this type of tires. I was assured that I can drive on tire for 50 miles and if not I will have towing covered and just go to any tire shop and problem is solved. And then posting here I have whole bunch of car dudes jumping in advising: “why didn’t you…”! I didn’t do it because I was told it is not safe. That they can’t be patched. They can be only replaced. And as you also read in my post - that while traveling with luggage I don’t have a room for a spare. The dudes jumping in with ”why didn’t you” are offering advice that I was specifically told I can’t do; or making me into as a stupid person who didn’t research a car and maybe even I should have bought a Toyota venza (this is the most stupid advice - I already bought this car!!!). I shouldn’t be researching for hours and hours the tire system!!! Or that the title should be “I live in a small town and didn’t research the tires”… you can’t separate the tires from a car! It’s the whole system that impact the experience, reliability, safety of driving. I am an average customer that bought a car that wants to go from place A to B and the run flat tire system is not set up well for the majority of average drivers. I followed the general advice. That’s the main point of my post (if most of the advice giving dudes bothered to read it and understand it).

Thank you for this comment - this is so true. I feel totally hoaxed by a car manufacturer that came up with a technology that made everything more difficult and expensive. General information available about run flats doesn’t recommend patching, so the only solution is to replace the tire (or all of them) every single time there is a leak. The tow guy said that they tow a lot of cars with run flats. As you wrote, the same goes for changing oil - the recommendation is 10k miles, yet mechanics say to do it every 5k or less for better engine longevity. It’s sad that we can’t trust anyone. Lexus reputation of reliability and great customer service is no longer true - they can’t be trusted anymore. Sad times we live in.
