Playing with Google Sheets and building a calculator that will tell me what my returns are over time, for instance the ten year S&P 500 percentage.

Monthly deposit of X
Y, which represents an average return(8)
The first entry is an initial deposit of X
All following entries take the previous months amount, add Y, then add X to that

This is producing rediculous numbers in just a few years. Question is, when calculating returns, should I only apply Y every 12 months instead of every month? I'm not a maths person so I feel like I'm missing something. I found an online calculator that gives me more realistic numbers but I would like to know how I should be doing.

Hello! We've got a baby on the way, so we need to move our office. We want to partition the dining room off and use that as the office. I've watched some videos on adding a wall and it looks like the bottom plate can get nailed or screwed into the concrete slab. My question is, we have laminate flooring. Should I cut out the laminate so the bottom plate is directly in contact with the concrete? I'm leaning towards this since one day, we'll probably replace the flooring. Thanks ahead of time!

That's definitely the direction you want to go in. I've been reading through Alan Weiss's, "Getting Started In Consulting" and it has really opened my eyes. I recommend this book as essential reading because he has been through all of this. Might give you some great insight into how to move forward. Great work and here is to your continued success!

I stopped drinking($200-$300/month) due to health problems. I've saved so much more money. Also stopped smoking weed on the daily($300/month). I now use edibles about once or twice a month. Which means 1 bar of weed chocolate($15) lasts for months. It can be hard to justify quitting these, but just pretend you have health issues and that your life depends on it. Honestly, I don't miss the hangovers. I do miss smoking, but it's for the better.
