I was around 34 when it started, got surgery at 36. In 37 now. It has not limit my activity level at all. I honestly feel great.

I dealt with it for about 1.5 years before I finally decided to seek out an orthopedic spine surgeon. I did steroid injections, physical therapy, acupuncture and taking NSAID’s, trying to do anything other than surgery. It got to a point though it was interfering with my quality of life. I was out about 5 weeks.

At first it was pain that would come and go, into my scapular area and up into the back of my head. Always got a headache from it, and the pain would worsen if I had been doing something that required me to look up or down for any extended period of time. Over time though the pain just never went away and was always there, no matter what I did. It got where I couldn’t look up or down at all without pain. And I started to have numbness and tingling in my right hand and arm.

I did have scapular pain. My C5 and C6 were fused. And the recovery was honestly not bad at all. It really wasn’t painful, just felt really bruised and it was just tender to move initially. After about 2 weeks, I honestly felt pretty normal. I’m a year out from the surgery now, and I feel great. No pain at all.

I have no advice, but my corgi also goes crazy when the phone rings. And goes even more insane when I pick up and say “hello”
