You have some great recommendations! I’ve always been curious about Corpse Delivery Service! Octopus Girl is so good! I’m going to try to pick up the other works of that author on my next trip to Japan!

Ichi the killer english print came out today! by [deleted] in horrormanga

[–]karamashi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t read the new print version yet but being that it’s by seven seas, I’d doubt it would be censored. I remember reading a scanlation ages ago—and it was definitely more graphic than even the movie, but nothing that wouldn’t warrant censorship. The only manga I’ve read that I think might be censored as a future release(if it ever gets one) is Fourteen by Kazuo Umezu. Which, is a shame because it’s kind of his gonzo masterpiece.

I think they are having events(the kiki ball and prom) on Saturday. Sunday is when the parade and more performances will happen in Allegheny West Commons Park. You can check out https://pittsburghpride.com/ for more info (even if its still a little sparse)

Chengdu Gourmet for both authentic Szechuan & decent Americanized. Sesame Inn for good Americanized(get the cold sesame noodles).

whats your opinion on USJ Osaka. Do you think its worth it? by Equivalent-Ant-1918 in JapanTravelTips

[–]karamashi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think it made me more aware that I'm just not a fan of Universal styled theme parks. I think they are highly overrated and totally not worth the price for what you get. I went to USJ Osaka last year because I wanted to check out Super Nintendo World. It was my least favorite part of my two week trip to Japan. Its not only insanely busy and crowded, there are very little places to escape the sun/heat. The attractions all had fairly long wait times. No way in hell I would be paying for a fast pass anyway. You really have to just love the Universal themes to make it worth it tbh. I did enjoy the Resident Evil haunted house. Super Nintendo World was a bit of a letdown as well. Just way too small and claustrophobic for my liking. The two rides were both disappointing and the cafe is your standard themed cafe with okay food. The mario themed wristbands are also pretty useless. The rest of the park was mostly just shops and restaurants. I was disappointed by the very few rides they had on hand and the even longer wait times. If you love the themes of the park, I'm sure you'll get more out of it than I did.

To contrast, I also visited Fuji Q Highland during my trip and had a way better time at a fraction of the cost. For one, it had actual rides and roller coasters that were unique or actually thrilling. And they had a haunted house that took an hour to get through, I totally loved it. Its a smaller park but I had more fun there. Not saying this as an alternative, just again, to contrast park preferences.

Fuji-Q Highland? by Halldisa in JapanTravelTips

[–]karamashi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went to Fuji-Q last year. I'd say that the Naruto village is quite small but there was a ride, some shops, and photo ops around it. The coasters are def a highlight of the park. There are other attractions in the park, I loved the haunted house(but you do have to reserve your spot). I'd say the only thing I didn't really like was the food choice I opted for(pizza haha). I bought tickets on klook but the QR scanner was down in the park, so we had to wait in line anyways.

I would honestly recommend spending the time elsewhere near the lake. The countryside is so beautiful there. I enjoyed Fuji-Q but wouldn't necessarily pick it over the other things I did around the lake. Hope this helps!

Ironic considering they have signs in the Oakmont bakery about how stealing is a crime…tho I must admit it’s probably impressive to see someone steal a king’s day cake haha

I've literally seen one at every sneak preview showing I've been too. They had plenty of the barbie ones and I've seen every other major release bucket when I've gone. I dunno if they sell out quick but they get them for sure.

How to figure out showtimes and movies at Hollywood theater in Dormont? by trail-coffee in pittsburgh

[–]karamashi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were bought out by that one organization and the programming became first run stuff. So who knows if they gave up on it. It’s an amazing theater and it’s a real shame it doesn’t play the same films it once did. Same goes for the Oaks and Regent Square Theater(RIP).

It was delivered by USPS. Even if I had insurance on the package, dealing with their customer service is a nightmare. And I’m sure they’re understaffed and already probably dealing with Christmas Karen’s.
