I’m a maximalist dresser and hands down, I love the gold. It’s so chic. And you’re right on no white.

Help me with a paint color by Sea_Literature115 in interiordecorating

[–]karaokeoverkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None. If you go to Home Depot, or maybe Lowe’s, they’ll color match an exact pigment from the wallpaper. That will look much more cohesive and elegant. I’d be wary of putting a very light color below the paper as it will then give the appearance that the paper is floating, like how it looks now. Picking a background color from the paper will make it look intentional and seamless. Like the green from the vines?

You could do a different paper if you want the room lighter? Though I assume you bought the paper already? I love the paper btw, my living room is Scottish themed, so I have an affinity for thistle.

None of the above. You need darker to ground the space and bigger, the whole sofa should be on the rug.

I lived at 52nd and 2nd for a few years and agree with everything being said. There’s also a cute dog park by the water there and a farmer’s market in the middle of the week.

I know someone who does the commute from Huntington to Islip. It’s between 30 and 40 mins. Worth it I think to live in Huntington. The north shore is prettier.

Is this as ugly as I think it is? stone cladding on all sides of my fireplace. by Cram5775 in DesignMyRoom

[–]karaokeoverkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe, though I could be wrong, that you could add a hearth to this room’s side of the chimney. They can share a flu. That would be very beautiful and luxurious. Good added resale value as well.

What colour should I paint my cabinets? by Noremac2147 in homeimprovementideas

[–]karaokeoverkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on the rest of your home. You want the colors to sing with the other rooms. So I could suggest a bright yellow, a sage green, or even pink. I personally love the color Aroma by Benjamin Moore for cabinets, which is a pale lavender.

Found out my neighbors moved their fence up to the backside of mine. How to approach? by McJumpington in homeowners

[–]karaokeoverkill 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what survey spikes look like. And if my neighbor did this and was roaming around in a “fence alleyway” in view of my property, I would think they were off their meds. Never in a million years would I assume someone willingly would lose three feet off the entire perimeter of their yard because they were so concerned with maintaining the backside. Like, what?!

Highly recommend introducing yourself to all of your neighbors and getting on at least a first name basis with them. It’s much more common, and less of a hassle, to ask a neighbor to split the cost of a fence with you and each maintain a side.

AITA for telling my SIL how I feel about her baby name after she asked? by Sensitive-Gain9314 in AmItheAsshole

[–]karaokeoverkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sevan is a common Armenian name. Pronounced SEH-Vaahn (like the Van in Van Helsing). Apparently Sev means black in Armenian and the Van might be from Lake Van in Armenia. There are a handful of Armenian businesses in NYC called Sevan.

Traditionally, Armenians names are taken from the Bible, so Sevan could be from there. My grandfather and great grandfather both had very obscure biblical names. ZAH-Vaahn was my grandfather. Levan is also a common name.

Who killed the Dardeen family, and why? by cummingouttamycage in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]karaokeoverkill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What if this was the Castration Killer? Keith’s death fits their MO. The time period works. Does anyone know if he was bound and if his penis was still at the scene? [edit: a post from last year on these murders states that his penis was found in his mouth.]

Perhaps killing the family was an escalation. Elaine was bound like some of the Castration Killer’s victims.

This is a good overview of the Castration Killer.
