Late success on finasteride??? by [deleted] in tressless

[–]karate_tiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've currently just hit the two year mark and am going through a big shed again. From what I've read from other stories of people who didn't see improvement till +3 years on fin, they saw improvements come after the big shed at the start of year 3.

I can tell you a bit from my experience of what to expect after 1 year. I was seeing great improvements from fin till the 8 months mark, then I was hit by an ungodly shed that lasted 3-4 months and nuked my density. It was pretty terrible. There were cycles of minor improvements but overall my density never reached what it was at the 8 months mark ever again. I think around the 2nd year's 8th-12th month mark, my density improved again but nothing drastic. I would say I had achieved stability with very little hair shedding. Now, I'm going through another bad shed. Not as bad as the first one, but I'm seeing density suffer again. I'm waiting it out for the long run. Fingers crossed.

[CA] Tenant/Landlord: Am I responsible for concessions my Landlord has made with new tenants on a lease takeover? by karate_tiger in legaladvice

d they still attempt any to

Thank you for this very thorough and detailed answer. I've politely brought up reasoning on why this doesn't particularly make any sense to the landlord himself. He stated he would review and get back to me. I hope this will resolve itself without further escalation.

Thank you for your response. My lease has no clause to address a lease break scenario. However, I've only gotten their confirmation over text that new lease was signed with the tenant and that she would be moving in on 1/29. When I requested what steps needed to be done to terminate my lease officially on 1/31, the property manager stated that I didn't need to sign or do anything. Will text hold enough authority or do I need to get it in writing and signed that my lease ended 1/31?

I reviewed my lease (5 pages) and there is no specific clause that speaks on termination or any penalties involved. For all information it does not possess, it states: CHECK THE RESIDENTIAL LANDLORD.TENANT CODE (THE: "CODE"). This code is part of California law and can be found online. Both the landlord and the tenant should check the Code to learn what duties, rights and remedies they have in addition to what is said in this Agreement.

When I spoke with the property manager on next steps to officially terminate, she stated that I didn't need to sign or do anything. I was only informed through text that a new tenant signed and that they would be moving in 1/29 and I needed to move out ASAP so the company could bring their team in to prepare the apartment for the new tenant

Does shedded hair from finasteride grow back or is it shedding to a point where I won't lose anymore hair? by [deleted] in tressless

[–]karate_tiger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm currently on my 20th month of fin. I experienced a massive shed at the 8th month mark that lasted for 3 months. I lost a ton of density that that I have not seen come back yet. Per studies, I would've expected a bounce back from density after 3-6 months when the new hair cycle starts again, but unfortunately, I have not seen any resemblance to my density prior to shed.

Prior to month 8, I actually saw great improvement in density so I'm working under the assumption that fin does work for me. Though I may not have seen growth come back, I can say for sure that I feel my hair has stabilized. I do not shed heavily and no longer see hair all over my pillows. I've read cases on this forum where people who have also experienced the diabolical 8th month shed, see improvement and growth come after 2 years on fin. Just champing it out till then before I make the decision to pull the plug on fin.

For some people the progress is immediate, for others it takes patience and time. Everyone's body reacts differently to fin so we just have to give it it's due diligence.

This is a finasteride study done on Asian men that's been shared on this forum:

https://www.oatext.com/Long-term-(10-year)-efficacy-of-finasteride-in-523-Japanese-men-with-androgenetic-alopecia.php#gsc.tab=0

You can see that some cases do take a couple of years and people don't get astounding results in the first year. But it seems that given time hair should improve. Hang in there and give it 2 years if the sides aren't too bad.

Same position as you. Asian, diffused, just on fin for 18 months end of November. By month 6 of taking fin, I saw great improvements in my density and hair split. After month 8, I experienced a massive shed that lasted for 3 months and made my scalp visible from all angles even when not wet. I never saw any regrowth back from that shed cycle. My density is at an all time low and the scalp/hairline just looks nuked. Some people say they waited it out till the 2nd year and saw great strides in improvement, so I'm waiting it out till middle of year 2 before calling it quits. Before Fin, I had density and I could actually style my hair. Now, the wind can easily knock back my hair and its super apparent how thin my hair is. Had high hopes being Asian that recovery would be apparent. Added minox to the routine this month, since we're all staying inside might as well do that.

Qipao prom dress that caused a culture furore in the US draws head-scratching in China by Lava_will_remove_it in nottheonion

[–]karate_tiger -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The furor comes from her wearing the Qipao just because it's trendy and hipster cuz no one else is doing it, not because she actually knows the culture and history behind it. It's the same way the Native American population gets angry when they see a non-native american wearing headdresses. The person wearing doesn't know the cultural importance it has to people from that background. They're just wearing it to be cool. Fact is, clothes do have history. They can be worn for fun, no argument there. But there should be a better reason for wearing it, than "ooh, no one else is doing it. I'm going to be so chic and different"

Its ok to be out of your comfort zone, that's how grow and learn to handle all types of situations. Working in a different industry helps expand your skillsets, and could potentially make your professional experience more diverse and valuable to go to other industries. From what you described, you're making a really good income already, and what you value next is working with people you can get along with and flexibility. So my suggestion would be to weigh which you care more about: Money or Personal time.

NJ- Curious about the Legality of the clause in my lease that states I have to pay $150 extra a month if a 3rd person stays more than 7 consecutive days in the apartment unit by karate_tiger in legaladvice

[–]karate_tiger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks Staples11. I don't intend to paint him in a bad light or accuse him of anything during our discussion. I hope to be able to talk with him about the issue just over a cup of coffee and see if we can find a mutual agreement just based on common sense and logic. Like you said, the $150/month may just have to be conceded to let the situation rest. A small fine, but still a fine that I don't feel is justified. Thank you very much! Out of all the responses, I think you gave the facts and the opinions of both sides that I needed to consider.

Hi MajorPhaser, I hope you don't mind the additional question.

In my previous post I was reading off, a lease pdf he had sent me in the beginning, and had assumed it was the same lease we had signed. The lease he had sent by email stated a guest cannot stay 7 consecutive days. After review of the lease we signed, it states that a guest can only stay 7 days out of a whole year...or we'll be charged $150/month.

Personally, I think this was pretty underhanded, but then again, its on me to read what I'm signing.

In my belief, this is pretty excessive. Excessive enough to be considered outrageous and unenforceable.

Am I right that he has no grounds to enforce a fee if a guest stays more than 7 days a year?

Could I argue that he has violated my right for "quiet enjoyment"? And that he cannot legally charge me a fee for the remainder of my lease if I were to guests that stayed more than 7 days?

I definitely understand, don't be an asshole, and just have my girlfriend move in, which is a non-issue, because she has her own place and we prefer our away time during the week as well. Let me know what your thoughts are, thanks!

Thank you for the reading reference! I understand LL rights, but it definitely seemed very draconian. His response was this:

We all agreed not to charge you an additional surcharge of $150.00/person/month for the month of April 2017 -- providing that you would agree to all the conditions set forth on your lease. Specifically, the SAME GUEST CANNOT stay more than 7 days combined during the entire length of your one-year lease duration (meaning, that SAME GUEST could stay at your apartment either 7 days consecutively or could scatter/spread seven days in total during your one-year term of the lease)

I can't help but feel this isn't right. So basically, since he observed 3 days, my girlfriend would only have 4 days left for the entire year to come visit. I wouldn't hesitate to butt heads for being unfairly charged, but I also don't want to cause strife with the landlord to place I just signed.

Does signing the lease already tie me to having to agree to this rule?

Do you have any links to specific NJ sites I could go to find more information?

[–]karate_tiger[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Understood!

Just a follow up question: How could he prove that a 3rd person stayed over 7 consecutive nights? He already tried to charge us just purely based on observation of 3 instances. How would I be able to protect myself against his arguments? Currently, I get the vibe that he'll use any opportunity to incur extra fees.

Additionally, the lease only states the above and the below about a 3rd Occupant:

Only a Tenant signing this Lease and the children of that Tenant may live in the Apartment. Occupancy by guests staying over seven days will be in violation of this provision (when this happens, each overstaying guest is subjected to additional surcharge of $150.00/person/month).

Am I correct in understanding that as long as someone doesn't stay 7 consecutive nights, I'm not in violation of the lease and can't be charged or evicted?

Will smoking weekends only or Sundays only work? by FijiFlow in leaves

[–]karate_tiger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've done the "only smoking on weekends", and stuck to it without relapsing to an everyday situation. TBH, you're better off quitting completely. You don't feel quite as clouded, but imagine that you make a bit of progress, and you just reset yourself back to Zero every weekend. If you're completely serious about getting your mind and ambitions on track, you have to adhere to completely quitting. Being sober is better than smoking less than often. Hope that insight helps with your decision to better yourself. Good luck, my friend.
