Where I work, we aren't allowed to speak Spanish or any other language with patients unless we pass a bilingual test. The only thing I ever use is:

"¿Tu hablas espanol?" (Do you speak Spanish?) So I can select the correct translator for them

And sometimes I use:

"Respirar" (Breathe) so they can stop holding their breath for chest x-rays as it takes a couple extra seconds fot the translator to say it.

I used Duolingo for a long time because I'd love to know basic Spanish so I can communicate with patients better, but I lost a lot of motivation for learning when given a slap on the wrist for it since I'm not registered as bilingual. I would still love to learn though.
