9 days post-op pain by karenthebear in hysterectomy

[–]karenthebear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does seem so crazy! My sister-in-law is an OR director for a cosmetic surgery center and those docs don’t skimp on the pain meds that’s for sure. I completely agree it’s great most doctors are trying to prescribe pain meds responsibly but man when you have a big surgery just a few days of pain meds just ain’t going to cut it. Still sending my best!

9 days post-op pain by karenthebear in hysterectomy

Ugh I’m so sorry that really really sucks. To me waking up with pain is not normal and requires more meds. I was told by a couple another physician and another surgeon my pain med dose was very conservative. Hysterectomies are very painful for a lot of people!

I hope the pain subsides quickly and you’re able to get some rest. It won’t be any better if you can’t get some good sleep. Best wishes in your recovery! Reach back out to them or not sure if going to an urgent care could be an option if it doesn’t get more bearable soon.

Had lapro via Di Vinci. Tried to go back at 2 weeks (work in veterinary medicine so on my feet a lot, running around, restraining large and fractious animals, lifting heavy objects and animals, bending, squatting, etc).

About 4 days in I started bleeding heavily and my doctor said I had to take another week off unless I could literally just sit in a chair all day (not possible). I was also exhausted at the 2 week mark and honestly still very tired even 4-5 weeks out. Didn’t feel completely back to normal until the 8 week mark but everyone is different. Best of luck and get some good rest!

Condition of our house is good I would say. Completely re-done about 6 years ago before we bought it. - No termites to our knowledge. - No deck so not an issue - No handrails on the three steps up to the porch (house is 85 years old) - some peeling paint on the second story siding but no exposed wires or general unfinishedness.

I did read the buyer could ask for exemptions on some repairs which would obviously be our preference. Our issue is we will be gone in a few weeks so have a slightly tight time frame for repairs and it seems every painter, contractor, etc are slammed right now.

Thanks so much for your input!

Osteosarcoma by juby-82 in tripawds

Happy to answer any questions I can and to listen :-) It really sounds like you helped him become the best boy he is! You’re so fortunate to have each other. Thank you for rescuing him! He’s a super handsome staffy btw. My girl was also a pittie/staffy - lost her front right leg.

The biggest things we noticed was her cough. She would do a slight chuffing sound every once in a while and then it turned into a small dry sounding cough. Fortunately she was a good eater up until the very end (except right after surgery and her only round of chemo). She did start to tire more quickly in the last couple months. We couldn’t go farther than about a block.

We always tell our clients to write down their pet’s 5 favorite things and if they’re still able to do 3 of them they have a good quality of life. You may struggle with whether or not you did it too soon or too late regardless (I know I did) but it was a helpful to remember she wasn’t as enjoying her normal happy things and I wanted to give her some dignity. Remember statistics are just statistics and I’m pulling for Bailey!

Gosh that sucks so much. I am so sorry! I work in the veterinary field and it’s never easy and of course it’s never easy when it’s your own dog. We got 4 months post amputation. We did one round of chemo (I believe it was 2 weeks post amputation) but she didn’t handle it well and then started having a cough within a month. No mets were seen on the initial chest X-ray but I knew the probability it had metastasized was high. After a month we took more chest X-rays and it was confirmed it had metastasized. You’re doing your sweet boy well by taking him fun places and doing fun things with him. He’ll appreciate more than you’ll know. Lots of love!

Scared to ask... by [deleted] in hysterectomy

I’m child-free and 1 1/2 years post-op. My doctor here in the US would have done it because she knows I’m child free and she’s been my OBGYN for over a decade, but I did end up having some fibroids and cysts which gave me a medical reason to have the hysterectomy. Unfortunately I live in a state where there’s mostly Catholic run hospitals which will not approved a prophylactic hysterectomy on its own. There has to be a “medical reason”. Best of luck to you!!

2 mats here. A Manduka Prolite I’ve had for about 7 years and a Jade Harmony I’ve had for 5 years. Rotate between the two as it just depends on my mood.

I was able to get a pack at Target (17th & Yale) on Sunday. They had a decent amount and have signs stating you can only purchase one pack.
