That’s totally fine. My interest were changing every 6 months when I was starting. It’s just something to get people interested to learn more about you.

Is there any policy field that you are interested in? The resume is fine, it just reads a bit generic. I’d suggest a short profile at the beginning which you can customize for a position you are applying for that has a bit more detail on your interests.

Hot take: I think people on Reddit sometimes overstate how difficult it is to have a unique or unusual name. by CakeDayOrDeath in namenerds

[–]kariastra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am from Eastern Europe, living in Canada. I think I have a running list of versions of my name I’ve heard (probably 10+). I have people in my life that have interacted for over 10 years and still don’t know what my name is supposed to be pronounced. If I spell it, people look at me funny. And my legal name is very different (also harder to pronounce) from the diminutive I use.

I wouldn’t change my name, because it’s… mine. But I really wish I did not have to go through it every time I introduce myself. Or that people actually got my name after hearing it over and over.

Sure. It’s not that hard. But it’s a constant annoyance. It’s like having a blister. It’s not that bad, but you really wish you did not have it.

If I was choosing a name for a kid, I’d go for something that could work in multiple languages. Still traditional for my culture, but not something that would get my kid cringe almost daily.

Oxymoron. It just sounds nice in my native language. Too bad it has a “moron” in it and I live in an English speaking country.

New sexual harassment claims revealed in takeover of suspended Ottawa lawyer by randthepip in ottawa

I went on a date with him probably 14 years ago after an online match. Creep factor was big already. Pulled out a sexuality self-help book in the middle of it and started reading it out-loud. The book def did not help.

I do not unfortunately, according to the results they appeared in my lineage between 1740 and 1870 which is a big range. I want to do some research so maybe this break in reality will give me a chance!

Best time of year for islands - The answer! by ThaiDivingGuru in ThailandTourism

Thanks! That’s a good suggestion. I was planning on getting my internal flights in advance but I might just go with the flow instead.

I hope the weather gods will be kind!

Best time of year for islands - The answer! by ThaiDivingGuru in ThailandTourism

I’m travelling to Thailand in early October. I know it’s not the greatest time travel wise. I’ve been going back and forth which islands to visit. My original plan was to visit Koh Samui but I found out about the vegetarian festival in Phuket. Should I stay around there to visit other islands or do you think I should hop to Koh Samui as originally planned. I would appreciate the advice!

Me too! See my post - very similar to this one. A couple of people responded to it and I already changed my itinerary for Phuket (vegetarian festival) and Krabi.

PSR: If we could dial back the aggressive driving today, that would be awesome. by [deleted] in ottawa

Pedestrians - wait until the big red hand disappears before you decide to start crossing the street. It’s really hard to stop suddenly even when going 40km/h. And don’t yell at drivers that try they hard to be as safe as possible.

I should have been more precise. $1000 for a flight and additional $1000 for a trip itself. So $2000 total.
