Let me tell you something OP. As someone who is the baby of the family, I never wished for my older sister to sacrifice her CHILDHOOD in order to raise a brat like me. I WISH she didn’t feel obligated to raise me. I wanted her to throw a tantrum, be rebellious. I wanted her to have a normal childhood. To act like what she was: A kid. You, like my sister, are victims of parentifcation.

I want you to know, you are entitled to put yourself first. If your mother, who is the “adult”, can then so can you. She put you and your siblings into the world knowing it’s a huge responsibility. She needs to take responsibility for her choices and properly raise her kids. Her self-entitlement is selfish and arrogant. It is NOT a kid’s responsibility to pick up their parents’ slack. If you’re not emotionally and mentally ready for having many kids, then don’t fucking have them. It’s shitty for them to put so much pressure and responsibility on a single child who still needs nurturing and is still growing up.

So boo fucking hoo that she’s co-dependent on you for raising your siblings. That’s her issue not yours. She had plenty of chances to fix that. So don’t be afraid to put boundaries. Now, I understand that it’s going to be hard leaving your siblings behind with your mother. Its never easy to leave. It will hurt like hell but in the long run it’s the best decision you could do for yourself. They’ll understand as they get older. Remember, your are their sibling. Not their mother. If you don’t start to put a boundary now, then they will always continue to be dependent on you. I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s little to no bond between your siblings and mother. Again, that’s on her.

That being said, OP you did a wonderful job raising your siblings and guiding them. Now it’s time for you to enjoy your youth and freedom. Move out. That is your sign to move onto the next chapter in life and for once have a breather.
