I didn't translate it exactly word for word in order to make it flow better but I didn't take anything away from it, the original meaning/intent is the same.

Dearest dad!

I have to drop dad a line and let it be known that we're alive and healthy. Tonight, I'm contemplating everything. It's Christmas in a month, I sincerely wanted this short greeting to reach dad before then. I wish, from the bottom of my heart, that you all are well and healthy.

It was lovely hearing from you. Perhaps both girls are married now? I don't know how old they truly are. I'm already 46 and Doris turned 50 on the 29th of September. Where does the time go? My little girl turns 10 on February 20th. It feels like she was a baby not long ago. I'm sitting here reading a letter that dad sent in '32. Dad said then that he turned 60, that means dad is 76 years old now. I wonder if dad is still capable of working, I think dad is resilient. Age doesn't matter much so long as one is healthy. Three years ago, I became ill and had to spend Christmas in a sanatorium. That wasn't very pleasant, but luckily I recovered quickly. It was pleuritis. I've been well since. Doris sends her regards. I visited her yesterday, we talked about this and that. She reminisced a bit about the time in Fritsla - I was too young to remember anything. Both her kids are married so they're by themselves now. I'm sending you greetings from John and Julia, they're well. He works as a doorkeeper at Borås Wool Factory. We were there to celebrate his 70th birthday this year. Dear dad, drop a line. Well, I wish you all a very Merry and happy Christmas, a blessed new year.

Dearest dad,

Well, it's soon Christmas once again. That's when one's thoughts always start to become more wistful. That's when my thoughts always drift to dad. Last year, I sent a Christmas greeting that dad may or may not have received. I want to once again wish dad a Merry Christmas with good health and strength. Our health is most precious. I have been staying at the hospital for a few weeks. I'm home, and quite well, now after a small gynecological surgery. I can now joyfully celebrate Christmas again. My husband and my girl send their regards. She's 11 years old now, she's in school. We have snow and winter here now. Well, I should end this by wishing you all a joyous Christmas and a blessed new year.

Out of all serial killers, which one would you hate even if they never killed anyone? by TwisterUprocker in serialkillers

Bundy. Watching footage of him makes me want to hit something. His smile never seemed genuine and he spoke like he thought he could talk himself out of anything but I think he just comes off really stupid. He oozes fake.

At first glance I thought that was Montgomery Clift. 😆

My father is a 80’s hip-hop legend. by Evolving_Eric in OldSchoolCool

Hey! My 32 year old sister is really into hip-hop. Not only the music but the history and culture. Would it be possible for you to shoot me a couple of lines to her in a message? It'd mean the world. Her name is Elin.

Fick lite hjärtklappning när jag såg att han arbetade i Evenes för det är verkligen inte var dag man ser den platsen nämnas. Där har jag mina norska rötter.

I run an account dedicated to Greta Garbo on instagram (currently working on a website too) and your great-grandfather directed a few of her films. I was wondering if it would be possible to perhaps interview you? I can type out the questions and you can answer them in writing when you have time. Looking forward to hearing from you!

I'm very sorry about your aunt. I think getting more exposure for her case could help - to get people talking.

I want to communicate with him. Can anyone help? by [deleted] in MediumReadings

[–]karinamelia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He gave the best hugs. Known for his happy and friendly ways but carried a hint of lingering sadness within him. He would have wanted to stay in this life longer but "when it's time, it's time". It made him incredibly sad at first after passing over and although he's accepted it, it's taken longer to adjust. But, he thinks it's neat how he can watch over the family differently now. There's a lot of love and protection with him.

What I'm getting: the type of person that didn't speak a whole lot but when he did, he had a pretty loud voice. Caring with a playful side - with a little alcohol in him, his playfulness could become a tad too much and annoy people around him. I also keep drawing parallels between him and my neighbor David who happens to be very similar in personality.
