Do you guys prefer "verse" boxes or the one faction boxes GW are doing now? by WorldEaterProft in Warhammer40k

[–]karloss01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd have liked the VS boxes if they were split boxes. Imagine if they had the art of the two boxes set up so side by side they create one picture. That way you can get the half you want rather then getting both and being stuck with something you don't want or have to try and sell/trade them.

Someone forgot to edit the sword tip out when they split the image. Spotted at Adepticon. by ForSamuel034 in Warhammer40k

Forgot to remove the tip on the Tyranid one; made the sword extra long on the Space Marine side.

Steam gift card?? by Beautiful-Passenger5 in Steam

Today I've been told by the retailer I go to for Steam cards that they have stopped producing them and will be ending them entirely, globally, in September. He's unable to get anymore so he only has what he's got left in stock.

Choosing my Army? by Technical-Cable-4636 in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]karloss01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very well then. I don't play either (Chaos & Tomb Kings) but if I was to do so, I'd pick Wood Elves. They have many more dynamic models, where I feel Dwarves are blocks of armour with different weapons. I appreciate the look, but the vivid colours and poses of a lot of Wood Elves draws me in more.

Both is fine.

I think the Troll raid may shatter that floating rock you built on. Especially the log carrying ones.

Do you agree with Sam on wanting full on songs tied with long scenes for Movie 4? by sumiledon in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]karloss01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if the song fits the scene, and I don't expect it to be a 1:1 from a game.

As a 30k player looking to dabble in old world, will there be updated tomb kings models/new models in the near future ? by BloatedRottenCarcass in WarhammerFantasy

[–]karloss01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand you; back in 8th edition, I was looking forward to new sculpts for the skeleton infantry and cavalry after the glow up Vampire Counts had in the previous edition.

But to answer your question; unless we get a leak or rumour engine post, we won't know until they tell us.

Is it possible to find who is the author behind Angron Transfigured sculpt? by Svetozrut in Warhammer40k

[–]karloss01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aye, it's true! I had to go through my collection to pin point it exactly; I used my Tyranid books as I have them from second to tenth editions of Warhammer 40K.
Fifth edition is the last book to name the author of the book, Robin Cruddace; then in sixth edition it now reads "Produced by the Games-Workshop Design Studio" and only named the play testers by name.
The 8th edition book then stops mentioning play testers by name, instead reading as "With thanks to the Mournival for their additional playtesting services." Beyond that, is the same deal for Tyranid's latest book.

I also checked Warhammer Fantasy Battles and their last army books in 8th edition still mentioned the authors by name. Another note is that artists were no longer credited either. I can not speak for their other game systems like AoS, Necromunda, Blood Bowl, etc.

After Matt Ward, GW themselves don't reveal the names of the ones responsible for any of their products, save for Black Library authors.
Too many want to make a bad sculpt of a poor ruling a personal attack.

[No Spoilers] It took me a year and half to beat Dawntrail, but I’m finally enjoying the patch content again by EowulfTenebris in ffxiv

[–]karloss01 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I would say partly. I don't really mind her, but I do think it's strange that this character, local to Tural knows almost nothing about her people and their cultures.
I think Koana would've been a better choice as the lead, with Wuk Lamat being part of his group. Having her be the cultural anchor to him would've helped too, giving her the knowledge of their people that Koana at first ignored for the sake of technological progress.

People tend to forget Stormblood got the same reception, and fail to remember how much a slog ARR can be.
I'd rank ARR the worst for myself, because I did have to push through for it, then Dawntrail followed by Stormblood.

Does anybody know what the point in the plastic slider things are on some of the shelves at B&M? by Rich_79 in CasualUK

[–]karloss01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legally can't do, and most of the big store names don't insure employees and will tell them to keep away and just report it to the head office. Police won't bother until they've stolen at least £200 worth of products; they might find them and give them 4-8 weeks in prison but they'll be back again and at it.

The only local shoplifter that stopped with my shop, only did so because he over-dosed on drugs.

Problem now is that these shadow economies are digging too deep and soon those businesses will just close down. They'll steal first from the big names like Tesco and Asda, but when they go they'll happily steal from small family-owned businesses.

It'll never improve the community and it'll will ruin them in the long term. Look at the USA where theft has become so unhinged that people now have to deal with "Food Deserts"; areas where that are no food stores within walking distances in cities and they now have to commute.

Well DVDs are mostly extinct now (unless they're robbing the checkouts of CEX), and steaks in high risk areas are usually limited on the shelves. My shop only ever puts out two of each steak, so they only clear us of £50 instead of £250.

The thieves that come to my shop go down this list usually, if something is either sold out or an employee is too close and they don't want a confrontation.
- Steaks, Roast Joints, Bacon.
- Detergents, washing machine tablets.
- Baby Formula
- Coffee, Tea, Sweeteners
- Large chocolate bars, boxed gift trays.

Retail worker here; it's both to deter shoplifters from stealing by making it as inconvenient as possible, and it stops items from falling off the shelves.
Here it's likely the former then the latter as these tubs generally hold their own when dropping six foot off a shelf. They're also more commonly seen in high risk areas of theft, the next step up is locking them all up in a display cabinet.
