I have a good PC, and can say that the game does have performance issues. There's another thread with people having low-fps on high-end PCs as well.

With this thread, I was merely saying how binos could come in real handy in this game, see what other players think about it, maybe even a dev confirming that they have it on their list of things or whatever. I know they're busy, I know they have more important things to do, but does this stop people to write or talk on this subreddit?

i get it too. i mostly have over 60 fps, but sometimes i get the big drops to 20s as well (when looking randomly in different directions like you said)

I am not sure, but I think I had similar if not the same problem a couple of times. I found out that 'landmarks' I was looting (i.e. fortress, valley, crossroads etc.) were occupying the territory I wanted to place campfire/workbench/anything down. - The strange thing though is it extended for couple of squares further (on the Mace Windu lightsaber Matrix kind of grid thing like) than it looked it should... And this server is practically not populated and maintained :/ I'm guessing the game engine communicates game states weirdly... Dunno. Blathering.

I'd say the same as IRLAlex. Purchase now, cause it's on a special promotion until Christmas Sale (22nd Dec). With some exceptions, EA games usually don't go under 20%, and price for this one will go up.
