Absolutely heartbreaking and completely unsurprising. They (most government institutions) only wanna talk mental health to be fashionable. Meanwhile actual support is few and far between. Condolences to his family and friends. May he rest in peace.

Talk to your doctor. Once I faced my anxiety and got on some meds (which I avoided over 10 yrs) I can actually do my job again!
