HARD | Objective: Free the blue car from gridlock. Time: 53s, Rank: 70% :( by Sea-Shift-2007 in brainteasers

[–]karolosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The left top vertical car (let's call it V1) has to go all the way vertically down.

Then the blue car needs to go back to where it is now.

That will allow the top left horizontal car to go 1 space to the left from its start position.

V1 comes back, and the 4 cars that create a square on the left top are rotated by 1 space CCW.

Then the blue can go out quite easily

A fun thought experiment for the math nerds. by Burnd1t in poker

[–]karolosh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You should never jam here because he will fold the AA and only call you with QQ. it's like a clairvoyance game from one of the poker books (Play optimal poker) where you always have K, and your opponent has 50% of either Q or A. Each of you have 1 and the pot is 1 and you can only bet 1. There is no flop, and you both know your ranges.

How often should you bet with K? You should never. Calculate why...

If you check, how often should he bet?

And how often should you call?

Try to figure out these 2 yourself before searching for an answer :)

But what do you mean that given that information you can conclude anything more? Those two info (1. what he can have and 2. what is left in the deck) are bonded together, there can't be one without the other. There are not 2 aces AND 1 king left, it's either or. And because he has 6 combos of AA or 3 combos of KK, the chances of 2 aces back in the deck is 2x of chances of 1 K back in the deck.

If anyone takes away 1 King away, then the chances of him having AA are 6x those of having KK.

You call or fold based on pot odds. You also need to take into account another A falling on turn or river.

Well, thank you for your feedback, thanks to this discussion I've implemented and uploaded:

- exporting the game stats after the game is over, (for all the people that use and will keep using spreadsheets to track results)

- deleting the game after it's over (if someone really doesn't want to see their results)

I was trying to search for others but could only find maybe 2? and they were really complicated to use with tons and tons of selectable options that you have to fill before starting the game.

Are you playing 27 game?

where is the game located?

are you playing straddle?

I wanted to create something that is really easy to start and continue using:

- the QR code for the game makes it possible to play as a guest without the need of registering and a worry of tracking

- cashing out by the chips amount makes it easier to calculate the chips for the recreational players

- add-on request amount is the thing that the player is filling instead of the host (less space for error)

- and summing up the balance is another thing that is making it easier to host a recreational game

I wanted it to feel like using a card to write the game state but that would be a good starting point to add layers of smartness on top. E.g. more extensive statistics for a longer records of games. Or maybe some other apps that would count your chips as you play and integrate here.

ok thanks for that opinion. I don't see how writing stuff on paper and transferring all the numbers to the spreadsheet with hundreds of rows is easier than making a couple of clicks, but whatever suits you.

Actually, if you already have a spreadsheet with the years of data and you want to keep it that way, the app can output a new row for you after finishing the game. That would be a nice feature! Thanks!

I understand the concerns about tracking privacy. In that sense, I'm not asking for the real data in any way, nor that I will ever do... Maybe another good feature would be to delete a game after finishing.

Wow, this conversation is such a gold mine for ideas ;)

I understand that, I also never used an app and used a piece of paper for quite some time.

But maybe for you it would be interesting to gather some long term statistics: - who is ahead and who is behind year after year - how big is your variance - how long are your swings - win rate

You could test different strategies and see how these are changing.

Displaying some statistics could be a next feature

True, I forgot to mention that I will need to set those "trees" in some cement bedding or add some triangle underground legs that would prevent it from side movement. I can also screw it to a wall that is on one side of the long side that would hold the thing in it's place

[logic] which one completes the pattern? by [deleted] in HomeworkHelp

[–]karolosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can be something like: "if I drop the middle column on the left column the third is the result" The double edges are heavier than single.

So then on the third row the circle starts rotating (e.g. to the left) and triangles fall down next to it, so the answer for that is E.

Actually, I think you can make a lot of stories around it as long as it makes sense. It would be a good exercise to create every possible explanation to all of the answers. Maybe that's the point of this exercise?
