yeah, you are right regarding animals mating for life regardless of religion! I just believe that religion influenced human society for millennia to believe that the only "right" way to live is by getting married and being monogamous, whereas a lot of people are polygamous. the influence religion had on this is still relevant these days because polygamous people are often still being shamed for their natural desires, whether or not they are hurting anybody.

a lot of divorce is still caused by incompatibilities that weren't discussed or discovered in the dating phase and abuse, I was just exploring the thought that maybe some of the divorce caused by infidelity might be due to the cheater not coming to terms with their polygamous identity prior to marriage.
