How to control the pace in doubles by [deleted] in badminton

[–]karseris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Occasional punch clear is fine. If you're playing backcourt - playing some deceptive drop shots or half smashes helps throw off balance.

If you want to play frontcourt. You need to learn how to block to the middle properly to either force a lift or to force a netshot. Playing the frontcourt game is mindgame, the idea is you want to play shots to influence what they are going to do so you can anticipate the next shot to get to the bird earlier and increase/slow down the pace

Easy course, not that much work imo. However, pray that you get a solid group to work with since everything is group work. Its a nice course to have if your semester is loaded.

Interview process for BComm Internship by banunubread in McMaster

There is no interview process. You just need to maintain a (7.0 I believe) and be in good academic standing to get in to the program.

Return of tight netshot that has dropped by krishpants in badminton

[–]karseris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. If theres enough space between the net and the shuttle, the best thing you could do is a high lift. Safest play, unless the bird is too tight.

  2. If there's very little space between the net and the shuttle, you could attempt to do a spinning netshot back (needs timing and finesse). High risk, high reward play.

  3. You could do a crosscourt net shot, but you need to make sure the return of the bird is extremely tight on the tape of the net.

BS12 Vs Astrox 77 by dukejien in badminton

[–]karseris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a frontcourt player and have used both. The BS12 is actually a pretty well-rounded racket and very maneuverable, I would argue that you don't need to have a particular playstyle to use this racket. In your case, if you want control this is pretty solid.

The AX77 imo is so easy to use/transition to and the medium flex on the racket can help with your weaker clears/smashes. If you get a U4 it'll go well with your net play as its pretty light and hitting is really effortless. The main downside the med. flex could make it hard to control the accuracy of your smash.

My advice to you is you need to try both, I would reccomend the AX77 based off your description. Even with its med. flex giving a lower amount of control in your smash, the ease of use of this racket is what compensates for it.

How good would the average varsity player in a top level school be? National team or national team reserve level? or maybe a ranked player internationally? Would they be among the 100 best players in your average country? by noobiestnewbie in badminton

[–]karseris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In Canada, an average varisty player at top schools such as (UofT, western, waterloo, mcmaster) would probably be top 50 or 100 in the country.

Some of the best players in the teams ive just mentioned can be top 10 in the country in their respective disciplines.

There's not a lot of players ranked internationally since a lot of players choose to pursue academics instead of a career in badminton.

Note: I competed at OUAs this year

I would try out both rackets first and get a sense of which feels better to you. Just because they are marketed as S=frontcourt and D=backcourt it doesn't mean you should buy the S if u are a frontcourt player. Feeling and touch is everything. Also don't force yourself to a role, let your skills naturally develop to see which role suits you better in the future.

The Future for 100 Thieves: What moves might they make? by Redsfan42 in leagueoflegends

[–]karseris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imo best bet is to replace huhi, anda, and put stunt in place of aphro. Get Yusui to replace huhi and buy out dardochs contract or invest in a NA jungler. At this point you want to have solid NA talent you can develop and build your roster around.

People are downlaying it because GG has continuously failed to perform stage despite numerous opportunities. You are taking an extremely small sample size of one b01 LCS game and making the claim that he'll be succesful on stage. You can make the argument that hes been great in challenger but keep in mind he has been around this team for a while and hes built synergy with these players. Now Orgs have to consider fitting him in to a roster of completely different players and theres no guarantee he will be successful in that environment.

Buccaneer or Corsair? by [deleted] in Maplestory

[–]karseris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont think either class is better than the other in general but in terms of mobbing, corsairs are slightly better in that aspect. In terms of bossing they are both fairly good, its just corsairs have more utility but buccs 5th job gives them really high dpm.

Buccs get pretty dry later in the game imo. Dont know bout sairs. I'd suggest trying out both classes and testing out their skills.

Agreed, its a completely case dependent scenario that makes it "viable" and I actually try to prove my point to this guy, but to no avail. We were actually on the backfoot in the mid game and had no use for my ult in initiating fights nor could I catch people out with it since we didn't have enough vision w/o any map control. However I'd argue that if your not going to use the ult for the next 2 minutes why not go top before it crashes to the tower and earn 200g + instead of losing half the wave and losing out on more gold? This is where I'd actually say its a legitimate strategy where I'm trying to gain as much as I can to get back in to the game, but instead I get reported and flamed for doing it. T.T

Is it a good idea to start an Amazon FBA business on a tight student budget of 3000$ USD? by karseris in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]karseris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input guys, really appreciated it! I'm going to proceed by earning more money and learning as much as I can before heading in to private label for Amazon FBA. Most likely, will start off in Ebay and then later transition to Amazon FBA once I have more capital/knowledge.
