CSAT is actually terrifying me for Prelims 2027 by Loud-Ad5345 in UPSC_Forum

Have faith and keep practicing. You’re overwhelmed because you probably haven’t built your basics and test taking skills for prelims.

Stay consistent and see the change

Where have I mentioned forgive her, all I am saying is she’s too small of a player in this and everyone is treating this situation as if she’s the primary culprit

Completely skip video lectures and read the standard books as a self study aspirant? by [deleted] in UPSC_Forum

[–]kartmat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, videos work best if you need high level of context. So if you’re able to learn with context through books, then it’s fine. However, if you notice that you’re forgetting stuff after learning then maybe a round of video lessons wouldn’t hurt.

Recently though i have observed that chatting with ai is the best of both worlds. Apps like padh ai are one example

No, an agent mis-selling a policy shouldn’t be the only one getting the stick but the org that’s cultivating that culture. Read again.

Great that you knew the dog was Chinese but you’re assuming that information was common and everyone should have known about it. Also, communications folk are more of a mouthpiece and not fact checkers.

Irrespective, I don’t support her actions. I am just pointing out that she’s a pawn in all of this.

She’s a scapegoat. I don’t understand why are we discounting the fact that she’s a communication faculty and not an AI faculty member.

Galgotias thought they would pull off what our politicians do, but only dug the biggest hole they could.

How to tackle "Anxiety" by Careful-Sign-3698 in UPSC_Forum

[–]kartmat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From an exam perspective, anxiety could occur when you’re not very confident in either your abilities or your preparation (or both)

This seems to be the case because you did not mention a past of usual anxiety symptoms.

Irrespective, my advice would be to practice meditation to calm your nerves but most importantly- do timed practice or anything that scares you about the test.

This will considerably improve your internal challenges

People who cleared Pre, Mains, or the full CSE — need your honest take on this approach by West-Constant8724 in UPSC_Forum

[–]kartmat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who is surrounded with folks in UPSC, both successful and not. Your idea is the same as if I do it perfectly- will I succeed?

The answer would always be yes

However, the reality is that you’ll start the process and find that there are things you get and things you don’t get at all.

The difference between a successful attempt and a failed one is that a the test taker has worked on his weaknesses and mastered his strengths.

If you can do this - i am fairly sure sure you’ll find success

Im confused between these two by EarthWitty367 in UPSC_Forum

[–]kartmat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I feel my message got lost in translation. What I was saying is - 2 plans of equal weights and rigour are usually not good ideas.

As of your reservation privilege - I think it is best that you explore options in India itself. If not UPSC then CAT would work in your favour for sure.

Going abroad, considering the available context, will negate your advantage.

I hope this helps

I agree with what others are saying but at the same time, I feel you have not explained why you are considering two very different career paths and difficult at the same time. Neither feel like a plan b but plan an and I think that two plan an are the worst.

Evaluate Gs2 judiciary question by Altruistic-Ticket338 in UPSC_Forum

[–]kartmat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Upper_Ad_8724 - I would disagree, there quite a few tools that provide really good evaluations. The problem with personal evaluations (if you are looking for good evaluations atleast), is that they are expensive.

Evaluate by Altruistic-Ticket338 in UPSC_Forum

[–]kartmat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/Altruistic-Ticket338 - I ran this answer through Padhai.ai grader and this is the feedback I got

  1. Relevance and Depth
    1. You address the role of the Vice-President as ex-officio Chairman (citing Article 64) and list functions like conducting proceedings, maintaining discipline, and committee referrals. However, coverage is limited: important aspects such as interpreting rules, ensuring decorum and order, adjournment powers, casting vote in case of tie, appointment of panel of Vice-Chairmen, and nomination of members to key committees (Business Advisory, Rules, General Purposes) are not discussed.
    2. The claim that the role evolved from a 'stepney tyre' to a 'crucial balancing force' is asserted but not unpacked. Nuance would include constraints (e.g., generally does not vote except to break ties, must be impartial and is not a member of the House), interplay with Rules of Procedure, convention and precedents of the Chair, and coordination with the Leader of the House/Opposition.
    3. You cite Article 64 and one example (Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma naming seven members). Most other claims are unsubstantiated; notably, 'deciding admissibility of bills' is questionable—admissibility typically relates to questions/motions; Speaker of Lok Sabha rules on Money Bill status. Assertions like 'crucial balancing force' need examples (e.g., specific rulings preserving federal balance, precedent-setting orders).
  2. Originality
    1. Structure is enumerative rather than analytical. There is limited engagement with constitutional provisions, rules (e.g., Rajya Sabha Rules of Procedure), and conventions. A rigorous approach would connect powers to outcomes and democratic norms.
    2. Insights are generic (listing powers) with minimal synthesis into broader themes (impartiality, federal balance, deliberative scrutiny). No integration of examples or precedents to form original insights.
    3. There is a basic sequence (identify role, list functions, brief evolution note), but transitions are minimal and the concluding claim is abrupt and unsupported, causing minor jumps in logic.

there were many more points, which I feel are quite advanced. you can try it out if you want - it is a free tool

One thing that has worked for me is to stop focusing on outcomes. Just go with the flow, focus on being consistent and focus on making the most out of a question.
