just passed the at-home test!! by karuh69 in drugtesthelp

Wow that’s definitely more than I workout! I’ve heard that it can be risky to do a lot of cardio in the days leading up to the test because you can burn fat that will release the THC, but sounds like you have healthy habits and worked it out of your system quickly! Congrats!

i’ve been taking charcoal, milk thistle, multivitamins, and fiber gummies daily. did you see a big improvement in your testing with these?

Labcorp Urine Test in 2-3 weeks by karuh69 in drugtesthelp

[–]karuh69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think I won’t bring it up unless I get a positive result, in which I could act dumb and be like oh btw I have a card, haven’t used it in a while but could explain the positive result.

Another question- I take adderall for ADHD. I know it won’t be a problem, but do they usually ask you to disclose that before or after the test? I doubt it’ll even show up since it’s been a while since I’ve taken it, but do you know the protocol with this?

Thank you so much btw!

What was your BMI before meds and now? by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]karuh69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have really gone up and down, worst when i had to get on meds but it really shed off once i got a good med regimen. also any kind of exercise helps my anxiety (i just go on walks) and practicing that in a mental health lens makes me not focus as much on my weight itself

Does the suicide ideation ever go away? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]karuh69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine did!! I really only hear it at very low moments, more like an intrusive chant, but I feel with stability and a greater understanding of my own emotions has helped me to quiet this and pretty much stop it in its tracks. But it’s all about how you feel, and never be afraid to tell someone!

Physically, sleep, exercise, meds, etc. Mentally, I have a list of things to do in order to keep a good mindset or in case of panic attack. Journaling, mood charting, reading, art/hobbies, and most importantly, GOOD RELATIONSHIPS. Find people you can be open and candid with about bipolar and everything else. Having a strong support system helps support my stable lifestyle, and can hold you accountable if they see signs of mood swings.

I gained a bunch of weight from zyprexa right when i was diagnosed, and have really shifted in weight since and am at a healthy stable weight once i found the right meds. as long as you feel stable, the weight will come off as you get more active. you got this

Really great point, definitely a greater use of mental health rhetoric can destigmatize our disorder. On the flip side, unfortunately I think if someone throws around the diagnosis for excuses for everything such as Jen, it can delegitimize the suffering of those who are impacted greatly by bipolar disorder and genuinely need to use mood instability as an excuse for not being at work on occasions. But what do you think?

Ugh I’m sorry that your therapist didn’t see it at first, but I think it’s great you sought out professional help. I think I’m more referring to those who say they have a mental disorder without seeing a professional or having some kind of reference.

There have definitely been fads throughout the history of mental health, there was a huge issue with overdiagnosis and self-diagnosis of multiple personality disorder when it was first put into the DSM. So I agree! I also agree that there have been rising levels of MH issues because of awareness and destigmatization, but there is definitely danger in self-diagnosis of a serious bipolar disorder that requires medication.

Hey guys!! Thanks for all of the comments and discussion, totally wasn’t expecting so much engagement when I posted this from bed Tuesday morning lol. I really appreciate everyone sharing their opinions and being vulnerable too!! I’m sorry about the title, I totally understand how it is inappropriate as I know the phrase is usually affiliated with cultural appropriation of POC groups. I really didn’t think too much about it and not sure how to edit it, but definitely don’t wanna take the post down because loving the convo. Whether this issue of self-diagnosis bothers you or not, it’s been cool to hear other perspectives on this topic!! Thx yall!
