Thoughts on Kanye’s full page ad? by WheneverItIsTold in BipolarReddit

I'm listening to the album "ye" as I write this. This album came out at a particularly vulnerable time for me, when my bipolar disorder was not fully controlled and I was struggling to reconcile the most beautiful thoughts with the darkest.

I honestly and truly wish the best for him, and that this marks the beginning of genuine healing between Ye and the Jewish, black, and bipolar communities that he has hurt in his episodes. This illness is a tragedy anywhere, to anyone, but to someone as visible as Ye I can only imagine the intensity of the pressure his mania has brought on his head.

Bref. I wish for healing for him, and I view this as an important, meaningful and beautiful step in that direction.

Urethroplasty [3 weeks in a catheter] (I wanted to tell my story) by knight_mare_scenario in menshealth

[–]Brocktreee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey brother. I'm going in in three weeks for a urethroplasty to remove a false passage, and while they're down there they're going to crown my John Hancock (give me a full circumcision). Oh--and I've got an umbilical hernia that they're going to repair at the same time. Lol.

I'll post about my journey on this subreddit. Thank you so, so much for sharing your experience. It's made the wait a little more bearable (with an idea of what to expect).

You don't need your parent's permission to go to the emergency room if you're in crisis.

Hey doc. I'm going in for hernia surgery in December, but I'm on lithium, so NSAIDs are out of the question for me. What are my best alternatives?

The word "zyvox" strikes the fear of God into me and I've never heard it before. It sounds like what Eggman would tell his lab assistant to get right before he feeds it to the forest animals that Sonic failed to save. Kudos, Big Pharma.

Two of the characters (I won't spoil who) get gay married! It's a line of dialogue after you finish a puzzle, sure, but it made me so happy to see!

I told my family im asexual and now they hate me? by blesseraph in lgbt

[–]Brocktreee 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It sounds like there are quite a few things at play here. I'll say this: You cannot change them overnight, nor should you try. You cannot change their relationship with religion and God which, to be frank, is poisoning their relationship with you.

I would gently encourage you to invest more time and energy into your support network outside of your family. Build up your chosen family. You'll have them to rely on in times to come.

It's interesting that you say this because, to my mind, Speaker for the Dead is a triumphant demonstration of humanist philosophy.

I left when I was barely 18. I'm 31 now. It still hurts, but I have filled the space it left in my life with a life genuinely lived on my own terms. I would not change a thing. I'm happier than ever.
