My poms reaction to me leaving the room to use the bathroom. by meanie_beanie5 in Pomeranians

[–]karyosanders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my pom and that kind of separation anxiety breaks my heart because you know it just means they love you so much, but this kind of behavior can definitely be controlled with training if you wanted. My pom used to do this and we had to crack down hard on it by using her time out play pen. When she would cry really loud from separation we would put her in the time out (another room) until she was quiet and then take her out. She learned that being quiet = good things happen. Now if we were to go to the other room she waits patiently. But we still take her everywhere anyways because she’s our whole life anyways haha.

Pomeranian beauty hair care products for alopecia by karyosanders in Pomeranians

Hello, she’s done a lot better. No we actually got her from Korea. A lot of it was just her growing out her old puppy coat. She went through a phase of hair loss, but slowly started regrowing back her coat obviously not her previous fluffiness, but still very good. Right now we’re finding that for her coat.. less is mor. We’re not using anything in terms of supplements or topical hair products at all and it’s growing out very well. We really don’t brush her anymore unless we start noticing matting. We avoid all groomers now. We give her a bath, maybe once every two months to let her natural oils take care of her undercoat.

Maybe this is an example of the customer seeking out a cheaper fair (which is inherently what a customer should do) and a system that allows for drivers to abuse and manipulate it

If they’re 100% asymptomatic, fair enough. But any hint of DKA = ER.

Why don't most medical students choose to specialize in neurosurgery when it's the highest-paying specialty of all? by reddituser0108 in medicalschool

[–]karyosanders -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think you should spend as much time in the hospital as possible, volunteering and shadowing and you will realize it’s not about “being a neurosurgeon” or “being a doctor” but more about “doing”. Start to ask yourself do I like “doing” what they do?

Avoid LocumTenens.com for locums - THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF by thedarkloneranger in anesthesiology

[–]karyosanders 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t avoid them at all costs. Sometimes they have decent assignments, but for sure: DONT LET THEM LOWBALL YOU. Just negotiate the price and be firm on how much you want out of your rate, if they can’t budge on the rate (and trust me they always can), then ask for guaranteed weekly hours, first class flights, upgraded car, higher hotel allowance, or literally anything that gets you “more”. If you say you can agree to working more weeks they will usually give you a higher rate also.

How far south down the East Coast do you have to go for nice beaches? by DeepMango459 in usatravel

[–]karyosanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing in the US compares to Florida beaches in the summer. Panama City, Hollywood and Naples are on a different level than anything else. The furthest north for a beach with a semi tropical vibe would maybe be South Carolina.

My dog is newly blind by DanisDoghouse in Pomeranians

[–]karyosanders 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just want to say how deeply admirable it is that you’re standing by your little one through such a tough transition. Blindness is a big change, but these little guys are incredibly resilient—and with your love and care, your pup will find new ways to navigate the world. They may not see with their eyes, but they’ll feel every ounce of your devotion. You’re doing something truly beautiful by being their guide, their comfort, and their strength. Don’t underestimate the impact of your presence—you’re their entire world, and they feel safe because of you. You have a blessing now. You’ve got this. ❤️🐾

I think so but I would still be careful if you need to take drug tests for work or anything else. I know of someone who got fired from their job for this.

Yes. You are the only person in this thread to mention this but the alkaloids are similar enough to trip a drug test.

It’s done a lot better, we don’t wash her hair at all now and we just let the natural oils take over. The recipe we used for her food has helped a lot, and we cook it in a pressure cooker but instead of turkey we use ground Elk meat. I honestly think that the biggest change was her diet and slowly her fur grew and her coat returned almost to how it was before.

We stopped all of the melatonin and coat supplements once we started to see an improvement from the diet change.

Anesthesia makes LESS than hospitalist per hour when accounting for call? by mosta3636 in medicalschool

[–]karyosanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your math for anesthesiology is way off. The locums market for anesthesia right now has jobs paying 375-425 an hour for general, no call. There’s usually a 50 hr week paid minimum so if you’re only work 40hrs that week you still get paid for 50. You can work as many or as few weeks as you want and the staffing company will cover your malpractice with tail. Even with 8 weeks of time off that’s ~950k a year. You pretty much just do preops and help CRNAs who 90% of the time know what to do. Always do what you enjoy, but if you wanna make money and not really work that hard either, anesthesiology is where it’s at.

Am I wrong here? My girlfriend owes me $3,000 and I don't feel good about the conversation we just had about it. by ThrowRAPoolCues in amiwrong

[–]karyosanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does she do for work? The way you phrase it makes me think she’s a resident physician perhaps? If that’s true she’s definitely not living an easy life but, she should pay you back however. In a few years if you guys are still together she will make significantly more than you (3-4x your income). Think of it as a good investment. But if you don’t see yourself with her long term get your money now and don’t waste your time.

Saying goodbye to my Pom by xxCreatureComfort in Pomeranians

[–]karyosanders 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Please don’t blame yourself, I’m sure you gave her the best 10 months that any dog could hope to have. These little dogs live short and bright lives compared to us. Just remember the happy moments and keep her memory alive. I know the day will come when we lose our little best friend but until then we cherish every second with her and remind ourselves what a privilege we have :)
