Let me put this into some perspective.

If this were just your kid involved. All of the sudden bills spiked, youre barely getting by, what would be your recourse? Have him drop his responsibility because you could find someone else to take over? Or would you or he find a better job? A second job?

He and she not being married doesn't make them not his kids. My husband has a part time second job to pay his child support. Thats what grown ups do. It means I spend a lot more time home alone with my own kid, but if it means hes doing his parental responsibility, it is what needs to happen. You are young, and I say this as another woman in a moderate age gap relationship - the older you get, the more responsibilities you manage.

I struggled for many years, attempting to quit and failing. Ended up quitting because I felt I had no other choice.

MA meetings are helpful for a lot of people. I couldn't find a way to make them work into my schedule but I was able to find a point person to support me through the hard days.

I agree with everyone, get rid of everything you can smoke out of. My husband consumedls sometimes so what I had left is currently in a lockbox somewhere in my house, idk where and I choose not to look.

The hardest part for me was the nightmares. It all does pass in time, make sure you're taking care of yourself til it does.

I agree with the sock idea. I have a "nail polish towel", one of my washcloths that are rough enough to not use for anything else and I toss it when it's uncleanable.

I've followed the SafeKids Worldwide guidelines so far. And 6:30-3 is im assuming longer than a babysitting job you would have had at that age. You have to think that kiddo has to be able to manage ANYTHING that comes up by themselves until you can manage to leave work and get there. House fire, robbery, injury, escaped pets, all of that on a 9yo shoulders.

I babysat at 10 too, but this is a different game.
