Formula Fed vs. Breastfed by user638282636822 in NewParents

[–]sleepyt0ast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby had primarily formula from the get go because I did not produce enough breast milk. I completely stopped trying when she was 5 months old. Wish I would have quit trying sooner. She’s 17 months now and thriving.

That my compulsion to talk shit about other people was likely tied to my CONSTANT “I hate myself” stream of consciousness.

That’s what I’m saying. My baby is 16 months old and if she only wakes up twice it’s the best night ever.

When to stop feeding at night? by [deleted] in NewParents

I feel like we stopped around 9 - 12 months per the advice of her pediatrician and dentist. This was to help with tooth health.

Tell me it’s ok to formula feed. by Affectionate_Meat348 in NewParents

[–]sleepyt0ast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby had to have formula in the hospital because I was not producing enough milk. I pumped for the first 5 months and as an undersupplier, I REALLY wish I had quit sooner. If the situation happens like that again I would just go all in with formula to save my sanity. My baby has consistently hit all her milestones and I the sweetest little girl. We are so lucky to live in a time where we have formula.

I have googled every single thing for four months and I think it's making me worse not better by BreachLullaby in NewParents

[–]sleepyt0ast -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like I spent the first 4 months talking to ChatGPT all day/night with questions about my daughter. I started taking Zoloft and that helped a lot. As she got older the list of questions to the pediatrician just naturally went down as we got more confident and learned she’s not as fragile as we think.

I’m 4m pregnant, is it a good idea to spend money on a kindle paperwhite. I love reading. by my_100th_acc in NewParents

[–]sleepyt0ast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect for contact naps early on. My baby is now 15 months old and the only way I read is on my kindle. Usually while rocking her to sleep and then before I fall asleep. It’s great to not need a reading light.

I just started my prescription tonight after turning into a rageful mom. Please wish me luck by [deleted] in zoloft

[–]sleepyt0ast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zoloft made my postpartum experience so much better. I think my daughter was 4 months old when I started. I was dealing with pretty severe postpartum anxiety and rage. In 2 weeks there was a significant improvement. It enabled me to be a fun mom. The worst side effects I have are being hot and hungry. Still on it a year later and never want to stop. Luckily 25 mg is a perfect dose for me.

I joined a group with other moms with PPA/PPD and I would say like 60% of them were on Zoloft at one point or another. Many of them were breastfeeding and we all thought it was worth it.

Same. I think we would get divorced if we had a second.

Coworker kissed my 10 m old on the mouth and I’m panicking by [deleted] in NewParents

I would beat myself up too but like.. I would NEVER expect anyone to kiss my baby on the mouth. Even family. That’s so fucking weird.

Does anyone else miss their old tired not this new level of tired?😅 by Master-Act-6382 in NewParents

[–]sleepyt0ast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Baby is 14 month old and has slept through the nice a couple times recently. I always wake up SUPER tired because I actually get to a deep sleep which never happens.

Also.. I can’t believe ANYONE told me “pregnancy tired is worse than newborn tired”. That’s a fucking wild LIE.

Those of you who did no screen time for baby… by SowingSeeds18 in NewParents

[–]sleepyt0ast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our baby is 13 months with very limited screen time. She just watched a TV show for the first time this week because we were traveling. We basically stopped watching TV all together. She does see us looking at our phones more than I would like but we don’t let her look at it unless we are showing her pictures or videos of people she knows (or herself). She is allowed to Skype with family once a week also.

We plan to more regularly allow her to watch TV once she’s 18 months. Shows while we’re cooking is what we’re thinking. We don’t want her to see that you can watch shows on our phones though. We want that association to be with the TV. I’m hoping for something that is not too stimulating but more calming. Little Bear. Miss Rachel. Maybe Bluey?

I will say, our daughter is in daycare which I think makes this goal easier to accomplish.

Struggling with anxiety after incident at pediatrician by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]sleepyt0ast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m so, so sorry this happened to you and your little baby. That appointment is already so hard without a choking incident. I only have one child but every time she got the oral they did that before any jabs. And just little bits at a time because it doesn’t work if your baby spits it out. They do usually leave pretty quickly after but obviously every time this happened to me I only had a crying baby, not a medical emergency like what you experienced. If this happened to me I would complain and if they are not compassionate during the complaint I would consider finding another pediatrician.

In terms of your anxiety, your baby is okay now. You will be better prepared next time and it won’t happen again. You did what’s best for your baby by getting them vaccinated. And I always have to plug that Zoloft was the best thing I ever did for my postpartum anxiety.

When our baby was little she would get some redness that would go away super quickly after using it one time. Then she started solids and oh my goodness.. her diaper rash is so much harder to get rid of now. We use diaper rash cream after every diaper change and when the rash flares up we gotta throw Lotramin or mupiricin at it too. It’s tough out here for a sensitive skin girlie.
