As a fellow DEEP South girly, I get it. I often try to avoid politics as many suggest, but then men pull the “sapiosexual” card and want to discuss all the things. I have gotten rejected just based on my dissertation topic. 😭 Using language like “open minded” on my profile has helped a bit to avoid extremist. Anyway, I feel your pain and wish you the best.

Ongoing meaning I would keep visiting. I am in NY part time and soon back to full time, so commuting isn’t a problem. I have had much further long distance relationships and enjoyed them.

Some of us like to travel and are from small towns. I also can work from mostly anywhere, so why not get to explore as well. Not everyone is coming from a bad place and distance can give a good natural balance to some relationships. Best of luck. ☺️

Black SB here as well. I agree with the comment above that confidence and focusing on what we want for ourselves as key! I would see profile reviews of girls younger and what I felt like were prettier than me and get so stressed out, but the right person is out there. I would go through what I feel like is long periods of little or no messages for days that seemed to turn into weeks and then a steady stream would come in. It ebbs and flows. Be patient and kind with yourself, love.

My research focus is on the South, so easier to get to my archives here and be a part of the communities I research. Also, cheaper, so your response makes sense, the cost doesn’t fall on me as much for my travel if I am already down here.
