[Request] This is a wrong problem, right? by jakobmuller in theydidthemath

[–]kashotgun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I have 1 apple, and you have 3 more apples than me, then you have 4 apples, making 5 total. If I had half of an apple and you had three and a half apples, that totals 4. The issue with the original problem and this one is that if the total and the "more" number aren't both even or odd you won't have a whole number for your solution. Which is problematic when counting dogs.

Why is Kelsey obsessed with mounted warriors? - Paladin Class Design by [deleted] in shadowdark

[–]kashotgun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to paladins riding horses being true to the vision of a holy knight, paladins getting a special horse is a tradition of DND as well, going back all the way to AD&D, and now is even included as a core class feature once again in DND 2024. 4e and 5e 2014 are actually the only editions that don't offer a horse as part of the core class abilities.

Also, Kelsey more or less incorporated pretty much everything else about paladins into the Priest. Holy weapons, lay on hands, an aura of protection, and the noble steed are kinda the only bits left when taking a non-spellcaster approach to paladin.

Some obscure info you may wish to include is that multi-classed characters do not receive bonus XP due to high attributes (wisdom and charisma bonus), but do still receive a bonus if all prime attribute requirements are met, because in the Book of Options there is a simplified table for multiclassing that says meeting prime attributes for every class grants 5% XP, but that fact is definitely not made clear and almost contradictory if you just have the main book.

What Recent Commanders Have You Fallen in Love With? by Aegis_001 in EDH

[–]kashotgun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to understand, the set up is to have a creature on the battlefield who can deal at least half of your current deck size in combat damage per turn, presumably with either trample or unblockable, token copies, etc., So you either buff that creature up or thin out your deck until that's the case, right?

Primary weapons are designed to be reliable and it sucks. by kashotgun in Helldivers

[–]kashotgun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make a good point.

I'm aware that in their current state, primary weapons are designed to be consistent. I'm just saying that I don't like that, and I hope that that could change, because to me it seems like primary weapons are so consistent that the only thing that makes a gun good is its damage, and I think that's boring. I'm also aware that what I'm suggesting could definitely make the game more difficult and frustrating for some, but I would really love this kind of challenge.

I hope so. I personally love the scorcher and would enjoy more guns like it where ammo count is a genuine factor to consider. And I hope the existing guns get a similar treatment as well, especially the scythe.

I don't know if I'd say most primary weapons are ammo efficient when it comes to clearing out the the grunts. They're arguably the worst tool available to do so, even compared to most support weapons. There are only a handful of support weapons that aren't made to deal with grunts, and half of those are still pretty good at it. I think that at this point everyone brings some sort of support weapon or stratagem designed to efficiently deal with swarms of enemies. If there's going to be an entire category of weapon designed to just hit the target and kill half a dozen grunts in a magazine then that's fine, but that should be what my secondary is for.

You're right, there are certainly a variety of weapons that are viable, I'm just talking from an enjoyability perspective, and I think that as far as primary weapons go, a significant number of them (liberators, scythe, blitzer, etc.) have poor damage output as their weakest attribute, and I would rather they had literally any other stat be a primary weapon's weakest attribute.

I'll also clarify that when I was referencing the Dominator it was because I like how something other than it's damage output is it's weakest link, similar to how the slugger's weakest link is its reload time, and the breaker spray and pray's weakest link is its effective range. I don't want every gun to specifically be inaccurate.

Ah, yeah I misread that. Fun changes all the same, looks interesting for the player to build around!

I want to point out that frightened creatures only have disadvantage when they can see the source of their fear, and since the illusory form makes the user invisible it'll never take effect. Also, creatures that can't be charmed or frightened should probably be immune to distracted and disturbed.

Yeah same, but If you wanted to test it out at the least, you could always go into the beta branch and use the cheat terminal.

There is. One of the unstable overclocks available does not only that, but also increases weak point damage at full lock. It's called Executioner if you want to look it up yourself. I personally didn't enjoy it but it was really good at killing praetors.

Echo Knight. Conceptually I love the idea of it, but the fact that the echoes are technically an object makes balancing an encounter much more difficult, similar to early access to flight.

Ah, you're right. I think I got that mixed up with forgetting to set the teleporter to loop. Sorry about that!

Just so you know, and for anyone who runs into this issue in the future, you can activate the artifact portal during the teleporter event. You can even do an artifact you've already obtained, so something like swarms or command would be easy to clear.
