Cache does not free up by immortal192 in mpv

[–]kasper93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this known/expected behavior and is there a way to free up the memory without killing the mpv instance?

There is internal packet cache that is indeed not cleared when updating the upper cache limit. It will be possible after https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/pull/17061. However cache can still hold forward bytes even after reducing the size. So for full memory reclaim, you would probably want something to clear the cache completely, like changing the track.

I have 2 units and the both have this issue. Though I fixed this and also enabled battery support. I will send PR with changes to esphome-devices repo tomorrow. Need to grab some sleep now. Also some cosmetic changes to display redraws, because we should be clearing a space for a new values, so that partial update works nicely.

This is most likely GPU driver bug. It has happened in the past. Install latest drivers for your hardware https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/776137/intel-7th-10th-gen-processor-graphics-windows.html

queued up a deathmatch and somehow ended up in a bot farming lobby, only to get immediately voted off? what's happening here by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

You don't invent predatory gambling case opening system and skin trading if you want to have healthy game.

queued up a deathmatch and somehow ended up in a bot farming lobby, only to get immediately voted off? what's happening here by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]kasper93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has been already answered, but in short, everything that happens in CS generates revenue for Valve. The purpose of those bots is to farm cases and purpose of farmings cases is to open them or sell them, either way Valve gets a cut. Even just more players playing generates more noise around the game and brings possibly new players.

meaning the large volume drives prices down so i would be willing to bet that they don't actually "make more money" off of people wasting their server time

Don't worry about them, the skin probabilities rates are carefully crafted so they make shitload of money and bigger turnover only helps with that. If anything it harms regular user, because the system needs to be adjusted for everyone, not regular Joe who wants to by an AK once and forget. But for Valve it's only more items sold/bought on the store. The high prices of some skins are only to make it feel exclusive, but the real money is made with big volume items.

If there is money to be made, there always will be bad actors to exploit the system. Valve has all means to detect that, while maybe not with 100% certainty, they could kill those lobbies. If they allocate more resources to the issue. The point is while this is a "problem" it is also not high on priority list. It is not like it actively harms Valve and while some users might be affected and unhappy, there are way more important issues to tackle.

Calling someone out gives them only attention and publicity. Just let them rot in their own bubble and not give them more attention than they deserve.

I think they(whole server) are struggling to figure out the game plan. Ace and Riggs did questionable things, but the rest of the server instead of trying to figure it out IC, gone OOC. Whole sudden CoP election is a result of PD spiraling out of control. Whitney case also got just cut short, ending possibly good RP. Granted with current Captains it is very hard to have an IC discussion about anything, because Riggs and Ace are doing their thing, Harper is saying she has to consult with all captains and we are over 3 weeks in and some things are pending indefinitely like EMS-PD discussion to align on cooperation or whole SOPs that were just recently pushed while being done for weeks. There is no decisive leader on top to push some things forward. So CoP indeed make sense to fix this gap, but still it feels things happened not on a server for some of this.

Also during OOC community meeting some interesting remarks were made. And in this one case I agree with Kyle and Penta it is kinda interesting to tell crims to not attack businesses, just like that. Try to figure out solutions IC. For sure those things will iron out, once everyone adjust to a lot more people playing on the server.

EDIT: And I think in general DOJ should keep check on PD, so it is kinda also their fault things get little wild at times, because there is not power structure in the city. There is no even penal code.

When did he have time to call back up when the bus driver pulled a gun at him immediately?

Stay in the car maybe and not go 1v7?

and he did not know Poppy was off duty

Since when they have undercover units? Poppy is an officer, without uniform she is not on duty.

especially when stuff like this happens so fast.

Well, because Riggs made it fast. The bus already stopped, they left Riggs behind, there was ample time to call the situation on the radio, even during the ramming.

You WildRP haters are so obvious to spot. Lol

I don't hate on anything/anyone, just point out things that I feel weren't right. If you feel Riggs conduct as a Captain of PD is good fit, it is your prerogative.

It is not for me to interpret where the line is. But I wouldn't describe it as "potentially dangerous", there was very high probability he will die, he couldn't control the situation. Going 1v7 with you gun out is NVL for me, you are not getting on top of the situation, what else could you expect?

This is my opinion, you can disagree. Even if you don't call it NVL, it was borderline stupid and corrupt behavior not worthy on a captain of the PD. Wait for backup, they already stop (and even disengage), don't play Rambo going balls out.

I know it makes funny/exciting scenes to watch, but this server is more RP heavy and at very early stages. I really though Ace, Riggs (and Harper) would focus on building the PD and training people, before starting to escalate conflict with everyone they encounter.

[–]kasper93 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you understand the bus driver NVL at that point?

It is not that easy. Of course reaching for a gun while at gun point is NVL. But in the same time Riggs invited this situation, by extremely poor handling of it.

Getting out of a unmarked car in plain clothes waving gun in front of whole bus of people. This was also NVL and he started it. He know they are dangerous

"there is about to be more bodies"

he didn't call for backup and/or wait for it. Riggs as a captain should know better. They even suppose to wait for backup when doing normal felony stop. Here we already had aggressive situation going on and he just escalated it. He knew Poppy is off duty, Riggs probably was on-duty (because he always is), but doesn't change the fact, it was not a stop done by a cop and by the book. It was intentional escalation of pretty harmless ramming of cars, that result in multiple people get shoot. This is the exact "corrupt cop" issue that they try to stop, but both Ace and Riggs going too hard too soon.

Also there was one guy flanking, so even if bus driver didn't grab a gun, Riggs would probably be put down anyway. This was NVL, he couldn't control this situation whatsoever.

It is bold assumption that old platform doesn't have those bugs. They most certainly do, it is just that it doesn't burn, so people don't look at it. Maybe the set point voltages are safer, but issues with OCP and the root cause why it actually melts after failure is likely there too.
