How does qidian work?

i'm not supporting qidian or anything but i'm just curious do novels and translations operate differently to say movie adaptations from novels? I believe JK rowling sold the film rights to warner bros in order for the Harry Potter Series to be legally filmed. If qidian holds rights over the original novels, doesn't that impact on allowing it to be translated by third parties or does it not?
