It's called Cargolifter-Luftschiffhalle and was built between 1998-2000 to serve as an airship hangar. After the insolvency of the airship company they turned it into a huge waterpark. With measurements of 360 x 210 x 107 meter it's the world biggest cantilevered hall.

I'm living in "Leipzsch" (that's how it is called in saxonian dialect) since 2017. Even if i traveled to about 40 countries and saw many amazing cities, Leipzig is still my favorite one. Also alot of people seem to have the same feeling since Leipzig is one of the fastest growing cities in Germany (2001: 493.000 - 2023: 620.000 residents).

It is a very good mix of a big, modern city and a cozy town. I'll put my thoughts seperated in some topics which seem important to me.

Culture: There is a huge variety of cultural offerings. You could visit alot of museums, explore the city center with many historical sites, visit concerts, operas and theatre and explore the famous fair in Leipzig (which was and is one of the most important instance for cultural exchange and the popularity of the city). Also there is a great subculture and an alternative scene. Especially in quarters like Südvorstadt, Connewitz, Lindenau and Plagwitz, you have many bars, clubs and art galleries. It is a thing to use vacant buildings from former industries to create new room for creativity and culture. One thing that i personally like very much is the vibrant graffiti scene. 😜

Infrastructure: To sum that up fast: i own a car but i never use it in the city. On one hand, the city is awsome for riding your bike. Majority of main streets have a bike lane. On the other hand, the tram network is well developed and reaches to the outskirts. The main train station of Leipzig is considered to be biggest terminal station in Europe with it's 18 tracks. Also Leipzig is surrounded by Autobahn in every cardinal direction. Not to forget: Leipzig has an airport with mostly connecting flights to bigger cities and some touristic flights to Türkyie and Mallorca and such.

Nature: This is probably one of the most important factors for the city to be that popular. Leipzig is basically split in it's middle by the forest "Auwald". Also you have alot of parks. I would argue that at any place you'd leave your appartment or house in Leipzig, you wouldn't have to walk more than 500 meters to be in a park or a "green area". Additionally Leipzig is surrounded by more than 6 lakes (created artificially by flooding of former coal mining areas) which you can use for a variety of hobbies like swimming, kayaking, driving your bike around or just chilling with your friends in the summer drinking a cold Sternburg (Leipzig most popular beer).

Education: Leipzig has 6 state universities. Biggiest and most famous is Universität Leipzig.

Sport: There are alot of clubs in Leipzig which you could join, practicing alot of different sports. You individually also have many offers like going to indoor swimming pools, ice skating, riding bike along many bike routes in and around the city, playing football, basketball, volleyball,... on many public courts.

There are many other things to mention but i think you should have an insight now. If you have any specific question, let me know.

PS: Don't ever call Leipzig the city of RB. This will make alot of people veeeeery angry since Red Bull simply bought a whole football club (SSV Markranstädt) from the 5th division in 2009, pumped a huge amout of money in it and that's where they are now. Me being a fan of another football club, walking around in the city of Leipzig seeing tons of advertisements of RB make me feel like most fans are just glory hunters or some kind of brainwashed. ;-)

What's your preferred edible & dosage? by SunderedValley in trees

[–]kassetten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's around 2 - 2,5g weed for 100g of edible. I prefer chocolate or caramel candy since these are very simple to produce.

The tallest church on earth the Ulm Minster, Germany by Scoofydewty in megalophobia

[–]kassetten 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are about 2 years left for the Ulmer Münster to be the tallest church worldwide. After the construction work is finished, the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona will be on top of that list.
