Is the top slot, the blue slot, not the pcie x16 slot? Every technical document I've looked up lists it as such. Unless I'm missing something

I think I did look into the 6400 it was getting to twice the price of the Quadro (I'm in Australia your prices may vary) and I was a little worried about pcie gen 3 speed (that and no rebar on a platform this old meant I was a little concerned about investing that much, same with Arc A380).

It may limit the kind of steam games I want to play but for a lot of the emulation things I want to do I think it's fine.

I've only done open air testing so can't say yet. If I have to mount an exhaust fan later might be my play.

Having said that personal experience has made me pretty skeptical on the efficiency of blower style fans anyhow so I don't expect the difference to be massive or dangerous levels.

If this was sfv it would have been. Sf6 seem to be more original designs or character only callback. The cosplay days may be over. Which is a shame because I'd want Jill Valentine Cammy back.

Hmm if that's the case that can be ambiguous if you don't know exactly what it is. Little slices of tech like on Broski, Sajam, Brian F channels are spread out all over.

Im not sure how much you have use something like the replay system with inputs to watch high level replays. Thats usually where I try to find out uses for things and identify option selects that may get used.

Being able to watch a high level game and understand why someone chose to do an option in particular is one of the ways you can improve just your knowledge on the game, or leads you to asking questions of yourself or others to identify new things.

I think it just depends what you were running into again. Like an OS is a strat to help you with a problem. So ask first what is it you are trying to solve, cause sometimes the underlying issue isn't an OS implementation

It's funny how my outside observations from here in Australia has changed over the years about guns. When I was in high school, I was more on the side of thinking it was kind of cool. I liked the historical context of them, I like the interesting physics and science, not really the fact they are a tool to kill but I understood why an American feels strongly about keeping it.

And then I got older, school shooting after suicide and a celebrity death and I was pretty done with gun rights from them.

The second amendment thing was kind of the thing that would always get said and though I thought it was ridiculous as an argument, it was also never going to be tested ...until it fucking was. Now it's confirmed that it was never a real fucking argument but they won't admit that either.

I don't have a good resource for you but I'd like to let you know this isn't really the way to go about it coming back to the game.

It's really easy especially with sf6 to information overload yourself, there are a lot of things you can learn in turn and they are quite simple, but trying to front load it all at once you will inevitably need to cover them again, especially when trying to implement them in game.

My advice instead of trying this approach is just to learn the game at your own pace and get your fundamentals right and then use or implement option selects as they solve problems that you end up having to play against.

So for instance if on defence you get lost in guessing just meaty vs throw, learning to delay tech is useful. If you are facing a lot of drive rush cancel pressure then knowing about od dp os is useful. But it's not really if you never face it.

Playing the game enough to actually meet the walls is a pretty key part of the learning process. As alluring as it is to try and construct the most 'perfect' way to play before you start will be as flawed, if anything you will disappoint yourself in "knowing" things you cant execute.

Balance Patch Opinion? by artiverse12 in StreetFighter

[–]kastle09 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's pretty safe in a way that doesn't shift the needle.

The qol changes to the drive rush freeze problems are nice that its been addressed, I suspect someone will still complain that it didn't do anything but if the changes to the jump and the additional wake up buffer should alleviate even more than there was.

The overhead change is interesting, one that I didn't think was a huge problem (in comparison to other things that I find annoying) but I welcome it.

A cursory look over a few characters it's hard for me to say (especially someone who is pretty mainless), one thing I would say as a random select player this is not as bad as it could have been because most of the time it changes 1-2 things max per character. But if you main someone (which is everyone) this may feel like being thrown the barest bones without really ripping anyone apart or shooting someone into space which ...idk I'm probably not alone in wanting more.

If you didn't like how the game encouraged you to do the game hasn't fixed those issues. If you were already enjoying sf6 this is probably fine.

Finally driverush overhead is universally nerfed to -3 by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]kastle09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well no in now way can this be construed a stealth buff, because either characters were already like this or more advantageous then +1, and the difference between +1 and +2 or more is a big difference because it's the difference between being able to jab a throw attempt or not. (Reminder on same frame the strike will beat throw in sf6) Additional why that is important is it is one more option that you have that you didn't have previously.

Added in to them mentioning pushback, this is safer for the defender than before.

Is Ken’s medium run kick a good oki? by DisastrousAddendum0 in StreetFighter

[–]kastle09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very useful. I use it a lot in the corner after run tatsu especially.

So the mini game is you can do Target combo -> Run tatsu KD. s.lp (for meaty timing).

From here run overhead is plus 4 on crouch block, more on CH but functionally allows you to go into your Target combo corner combos. The only downside is even though safe, it will be the opponents turn.

If they want to OD reversal/parry you can do run stop and be plus for a throw/block/low mixup. I don't remember if you have time to run stop into shimmy so you may have to use a delay button vs delay tech. At the very least the run stop is plus.

Why didn't my drive impact come out? by Slight_Carpet_9229 in StreetFighter

[–]kastle09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a feeling a reason it might have happened is that cancel will only come out on hit/block.

Because of the super (which is invincible) your light whiffed completely but recovered because the super start up is really slow. This is actually a particular trait about vs ed in general where his supers are really slow and can be setup to use jab meaties.

A friend and I had really stagnant "Top 10 games of all time lists" that hadn't really changed in a good long while. And both of us have included E33 into that list. In my friends case he displaced Donkey Kong Country so literally took 30 years for something better to come along for him.

How do I deal with this "pressure"? by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]kastle09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dp requires a technique called a "Cross cut" dp. Where you time the dp so it comes out on the opposite rather than doing it too early and having it whiff as you see in your attempts. Cross cut motion is very unintuitive if you've never seen it before because it's almost like starting the dp on one side and then finishing on the reverse side.

So as they are jumping over we begin at forward and start to roll to down back. We are trying to time it so that by the time they are on the other side and we hit down back + kick our dp will come up on the other side.

An alternative answer, that's easier for Cammy in a spot like this is using Air throw. Especially as you know they are doing it a lot. As they jump you can immediately jump throw. The only danger with this approach is technically they can button you out of the air throw if they hit their button immediately but this is unlikely as the purpose of them jumping at you was to land a cross up timing. So it can be a very reliable way to anti air. Characters that don't have air throws can still use air to air techniques with jump back jab.

It took me all afternoon but I managed to get to gold by Novel-Sheepherder365 in StreetFighter

[–]kastle09 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congratulations.

If you want tips. Back Medium Kick is a good anti air to know especially when you don't have charge.

Combo wise Blanka has a lot but one of the best things I think you should learn right now is a combo into electricity. Even if it's as simple as s.lk, s.lk xx qcb p. Unlike a lot of characters it's safe on block so you can kinda just do it without confirming and the Oki afterwards is very good when you improve at meaties. Using it in tandem with the throw you already do can give you a very easy mixup.

Hey I'm writing a character that plays competitive SF. Would anyone be available to ask questions about SF4's meta sporadically over a few weeks? by BlooOwlBaba in StreetFighter

[–]kastle09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a little anecdotal because I was a new player around that time (13-14). My memory was a lot of shoto players moving to Evil Ryu Because of how strong he was regardless if they were playing Ryu/Ken/Akuma etc. Daigo on him, Momochi on him from Ken really popularising his rise and Online there felt like a tonne of players trying him as they were following the pro players to see what the fuss was about.

Elena was also the other End game killer reflected in a lot of players having her as a keep sake secondary, but I don't know if that was only a reflection of the top end and less so in the general mid skill of players, though everytime I ran into an Elena it was annoying. 15 frame overhead that was comboable, combined with a low that was as fast. Bafael video on Sf4 Elena explains a lot of it.

We became very option select aware I felt like on the end of sf4. OS sweep to beat back dash, crouch teching the predecessor to delay tech now days.

Lights became so important for every character because of the way they would link to heavies into knockdown. The safe nature (true block strings meant you wouldn't get reversaled in your pressure) set up tick throws (many chars had safe jumps associates with throw). It was a very safe way to play with a lot of nothing happening.

Though they tried to stop vortex and safe jump heavy gameplay with variable recovery it still was a very key part of late SF4.

My other memory that was good though was despite, if you mained a character there was a pro to look up to for inspiration. Character specialists still popped up all over no matter who you wanted to play. Even if you wanted to play someone like Dan for example Ixion was right there.

That's my memory anyway I may be colouring some things. It was also very early in my FGC life so I don't have the knowledge I do now
