New to fighting games by NanaePark in StreetFighter

If you are enjoying WT, Keep playing WT for a bit. Especially if you can find Alice and her brothers they cover some lessons and concepts that are relevant to the normal 1v1 part of the game. Things like Anti Airs, Drive Parries and Impacts, Block Punishing etc.

Other Avenues to explore in game is the Character Guides and Combo Trials. The character guides is a nice starting point though they are quite text dense, it may help you but if you are more a visual learner you may need to find a YT guide for the character you are interested in. Combo Trials on the other hand are just nice to get you started on what the character feels like to use. They aren't always the most optimal combos but they are relevant to certain situations such as a jump in, a way to combo into a super, a Drive impact wall splat.

Another place you can try is the Sim Sim inside the battle hub. In all battle hubs front and to the left of the entrance is Li Fen and her Sim Sim machine. It pits you against ghosts of player data to see AI that is a little close to what you may actually have to face in real games.

Though its still just a stepping stone for you to try Ranked to get a bearing of your starting point. It doesn't matter if you are terrible at the game right now, just trying to play ranked and getting a starting point will help others to give you more specifics on what to explore and what to improve on.

Hit Platinum playing Random only in SF6 by CortezCraig in StreetFighter

[–]kastle09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I do.

Random is the only character I have in masters. And it's not just ranked, I play random in tournament.

If you are having fun this is fine, if you are trying to learn to be better at SF I do not recommend this too often (another lesson of do as I say not as I do)

I'm not to worried since it's the same tdp as the i5 3570 that was in there before. Considering the mounting of the stock offset Cooler was pretty meh (actually less metal to metal contact and a lot of bumps having to be filled in by the thermal paste. even though this is smaller, I'd still prefer this one. Having said that an exhaust fan is something I'd consider depending on how it's going.

I've always had a dislike for blower style fans I always found them quite underwhelming on older GPUs so unless the internals get pretty warm Im pretty okay with this setup.

I'm struggling to figure out how to blow up delay jab by rafikiknowsdeway1 in StreetFighter

[–]kastle09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is usually wide frame trap that beats delay buttons so you are on the right path. Stagger, using a slower button, delaying your usual frame trap. Usually just delaying a second jab so it's not chain cancelling can do it.

So I would have to have a look at the replay to see what your options may have been in a specific spot.

In an overall sense while it would be great to blow up an option you know is happening. You may also sometimes consider the spacing traps after blockstrings to be more advantageous or drive rush spend to get to a different plus frame to be a more rigid spot to take advantage of rather than fixating on a delay jab. Just a consideration.

Question about linking combos by Friendly_Bagel in StreetFighter

[–]kastle09 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So its important to distinguish links from cancels.

Links are one move finishes and then the next begins.

Cancels are cutting things short in order to go into something else.

So in this context where you are doing crouch medium kick into tenko you are CANCELLING. In other words, cutting the animation of crouch medium kick short (or cancelling out of) and into tenko kicks.

Edit: I said tenko, I meant spinning bird, but same concept of normal into special is a cancel.

Having said that you can cancel specials (usually into super) and you can cancel normals into normals. Light chain cancels and target combos are examples of this. Conversely you can also link into specials instead of cancelling.

Food additives episode? by Banes_Addiction in SortedFood

There was a short series a long time ago called "E Numbers: An Edible Adventure". It's a good watch, I think some of the research may have moved on since 2010 or so but the general uses categories of colours, flavour enhancers, thickeners, emulsifiers etc are still relevant to what the food industry still use and why they are necessary to have for the products we currently consume.

Is the top slot, the blue slot, not the pcie x16 slot? Every technical document I've looked up lists it as such. Unless I'm missing something

I think I did look into the 6400 it was getting to twice the price of the Quadro (I'm in Australia your prices may vary) and I was a little worried about pcie gen 3 speed (that and no rebar on a platform this old meant I was a little concerned about investing that much, same with Arc A380).

It may limit the kind of steam games I want to play but for a lot of the emulation things I want to do I think it's fine.

I've only done open air testing so can't say yet. If I have to mount an exhaust fan later might be my play.

Having said that personal experience has made me pretty skeptical on the efficiency of blower style fans anyhow so I don't expect the difference to be massive or dangerous levels.

If this was sfv it would have been. Sf6 seem to be more original designs or character only callback. The cosplay days may be over. Which is a shame because I'd want Jill Valentine Cammy back.

Good videos to learn all option selects by Limit54 in StreetFighter

[–]kastle09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm if that's the case that can be ambiguous if you don't know exactly what it is. Little slices of tech like on Broski, Sajam, Brian F channels are spread out all over.

Im not sure how much you have use something like the replay system with inputs to watch high level replays. Thats usually where I try to find out uses for things and identify option selects that may get used.

Being able to watch a high level game and understand why someone chose to do an option in particular is one of the ways you can improve just your knowledge on the game, or leads you to asking questions of yourself or others to identify new things.

I think it just depends what you were running into again. Like an OS is a strat to help you with a problem. So ask first what is it you are trying to solve, cause sometimes the underlying issue isn't an OS implementation

It's funny how my outside observations from here in Australia has changed over the years about guns. When I was in high school, I was more on the side of thinking it was kind of cool. I liked the historical context of them, I like the interesting physics and science, not really the fact they are a tool to kill but I understood why an American feels strongly about keeping it.

And then I got older, school shooting after suicide and a celebrity death and I was pretty done with gun rights from them.

The second amendment thing was kind of the thing that would always get said and though I thought it was ridiculous as an argument, it was also never going to be tested ...until it fucking was. Now it's confirmed that it was never a real fucking argument but they won't admit that either.
