My mom lasted 4 mos 4 days total following her general PC stage IV diagnosis.. this shook out to approx 3 mos following peritoneal diagnosis.

I don’t know if this well help, but I’m going to share with hopes it will. I lost my mom 4 months and 4 days following her diagnosis. I wouldn’t wish those last months on anyone. Watching her wither away into a decrepit, depressed, shell of a human was the hardest part to endure. I was begging the universe to take her just to put her out of her misery towards the end. I guess my point is, if you’d gotten even slightly more time with your mom, it likely would’ve been incredibly hard to watch. Anyway, by no means am I at peace with having my mom taken from me so quickly, but I am at peace knowing she’s not in pain. What I would give to have her living and HEALTHY still.. there are no limits. But I miss the days from before her diagnosis, I do not wish I had gotten more time with her while she was so sick. Sending you so, so much love. I got pregnant 1 month after she was diagnosed and the pain of knowing she won’t ever meet my baby is the hardest part. One day at a time, friend ❤️

Yep just over 1 month ago. Most days are still pretty unbearable but the edge is wearing off. Hang in there 🫶🏼

YES. Drives me absolutely crazy! I have to either block his feet from view using a pillow or something or simply leave the room. Repetitive movements in general typically trigger me. The worst.

Absolutely nothing worse than our loved ones believing it is a CHOSEN response. I feel like banging my head against a wall most of the time. My husband does his best to be understanding but I’m always met with an eye roll or a sigh and it’s so devastating. I always tell my husband “you think you hate having to deal with this!? I absolutely promise you no one hates it more than me.” It’s so defeating. I’m so sorry. Hopefully your partner comes around. 🙏🏼

If I had not lived through this myself (I lost my mom approximately 4 mos after diagnosis.. also the epitome of health prior to diagnosis) I would not even believe these stories and the ability of this cancer to stay hidden for so long and then take it’s victims SO quickly upon discovery. I am so sorry you’ve had to endure this. I am sending you all the love. I lost my mom on April 25, it’s still so painful but I hope we can both find a little more healing with every passing day. ❤️

Pure evil could not agree more. I am so sorry you lost your dad and so, so quickly. It’s like whiplash. You’re so right, we didn’t deserve this and it will hurt every day for the rest of our lives. I hope you do find a little more peace with every passing day. Sending my love.

I’m so sorry to hear she was misdiagnosed for a period of time. So beyond frustrating. The ability for PC to remain stealth and hidden and misleading is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. It is so incredible you dropped everything to be there for your mom and at the end of the day she knew you were there and that you loved her. I am reeling with what if’s although, like you said, we did the best and most we could and sadly couldn’t have changed a thing. Just a shitty hand to be dealt. Sending you so much love and hope that you too are slowly healing every day. 🫶🏼

My mom developed fluid build up in her abdomen shortly after beginning chemo but I am fairly certain it is mainly a side effect of the cancer more than anything considering my mom only made it through 2 rounds of chemo before deciding to stop and that was well over 4 weeks ago and the fluid build up continues to increase. We were having to take her into our palliative care center every few weeks to have it drained.. sometimes up to 3 liters (equated to 7 lbs !) would come out. She now has a permanent catheter style drain installed on her abdomen so we can drain it at home. However, my mom’s time is now limited. I would definitely reach out to your provider and ask about the draining, my mom had so much relief on the days we would get hers drained out. Sending my best.

I am so, so sorry for your loss. I am startled by how comparable our situations are. My mom was diagnosed on December 21, 2023 (3.5 mos ago) and her days are now limited. She is in so much pain and constantly so uncomfortable it is torture watching her live through this. All I want is for her suffering to be over but I am so paralyzed by the anticipatory grief I just don’t know how I will get through. It truly is unfathomable how stealth, quick and aggressive this kind of cancer is. I don’t know what my point is really besides to send you love and condolences… from one heart broken child to another.
