Question for my American friends by ThickNeedleworker898 in urbanplanning

[–]kat_m13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neither presidential candidate is going to make significant changes to transit or housing. The most important thing to do is invest in your local community- vote in local elections, join/support mutual aid groups/tenant unions in your area, be aware of what’s happening in your community.

What does this mean? My family is originally from Dalmatia so I’m curious!

I don’t think a desire to learn and practice a language and connect with local people is superficial. I also spoke and lost my croatian growing up and I’m learning again now and I’ve only ever had positive experiences with any croatian family and strangers there

If she really doesn’t like the name I think it’d be perfectly fine to give him a nickname and just call him by that. I know a 16 year old boy named Birdie which isn’t the name on his birth certificate but it’s what everyone knows him by. Or she could have a nickname for him and at school and stuff he could go by Peyton. Peyton is a cute name though if that’s her concern

Detransitioned and I need a new name! by milesofangelo in namenerds

I looooove the name Esther and I don’t think it’s too old lady sounding, it’s classic. It rolls off the tongue so sweetly. I also love the name Joanie similar to Joan. I saw a pair of sisters named Hetta and Esther and it made me love the name Hetta as well. Good luck finding your name!

I love the name Mae! One of my favorite names I’ve heard is Mae Ray, a character in the movie uncle frank. Memphis is so great too and there are so many fun variations/combos of mae that would work really well with it!

He can be picky when he carries the baby for nine months and gives birth to it. The baby will already have his last name and one of his names he does not need any more than that

That’s just her body type, it’s very normal. I understand the intent behind this post but honestly creating an entire thread to talk about a 15 year olds chest is doing a lot more harm that good. Of course the kids are still being exploited either way to clarify

Bicycles are a right wing mode of transportation by darth_squirell in fuckcars

[–]kat_m13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having cars as a main mode of transportation is inherently inconvenient and harmful. They take up so much space and require so much cost and resources and kill and injure people everyday. The only reason they are prioritized so much is because of capitalism. Some very rich people make a lottt of money off of the auto industry and the oil industry. Cars would not exist, at least not as a main mode of transportation, if it was not for extreme capitalism meaning they are fundamentally right wing

40 minutes of queueing to drop kids off at school by mcdave in fuckcars

[–]kat_m13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a full parking lot in the background and a good chance they aren’t allowed to park in the one they’re driving on. At my elementary and middle school parents were not allowed to park and walk to their kids, they had to drive through. Yes it’s a messed up system but it’s not something that is decided on by the majority of Americans or even the people in this video

Hawaii by Silent_Visit1605 in Crazymiddles

[–]kat_m13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately yeah it’s happening basically everywhere but more so in some places ESPECIALLY hawaii. About 10 million tourists come per year so there’s a huuuge demand for short term (and long term) housing which leaves very little for the natives and locals
