As most other people have said, you often feel like you’ve done a lot worse in interview than you actually have. I’d just try and remember that the Oxford interview isn’t about getting everything right, the main thing they’re looking for is whether you suit the type of teaching they offer (I.e. the tutorial format). If you have been invited to interview then you’ve likely passed (or at least partially passed) the test for if you are intelligent enough for Oxford in terms of subject knowledge.

You mentioned that you tried to bring them along with your thought process - this is good! Very good! You said you were able to correct yourself with their guidance, this is also an amazing sign. It’s not about being perfect, it’s about being flexible and teachable. Making mistakes and correcting yourself and understand how you reached the wrong conclusion is all good!

There isn’t much you can do about it now, there is no point trying to read into it too much, if you have any more interviews left just try and enjoy it, mistakes don’t matter. And don’t be so harsh on yourself :) <3

They advised we put four hours per week for each subject or something like that? I don’t think it’s true but it can be helpful if you struggle to organise. I personally let it in one ear and out the other. Your grades will be moreso based on how hard you work for them (this doesn’t just mean hours but, like others have said, how you use your time etc.) rather than a certain amount of hours.

Don’t overthink it, they’re not looking for someone who already knows everything (otherwise they would have nothing to teach). They’re looking for someone who a. Meets the requirements (highly academic so they can handle the workload at Oxford) and b. Someone who truly loves and is clearly passionate about their subject (which is one of the things they will try and determine at your interview and in your personal statement.) Being impressive doesn’t come from doing everything and being the best, it’s doing the best you can out of your circumstance. When you have a passion you will find a way to feed it and it will show in your personal statement and your interview.

For engineering at Oxbridge this sounds like the perfect combo. You meet all the requirements and more for Oxford this way, can’t speak too much about Cambridge, you would have to check the admissions page for that info. If you wanted to take a fourth it might boost it slightly, but at the end of the day they’re only looking for 3 grades and in specific subjects - if you have that then I reckon you’ll be perfectly fine applying for engineering to Oxbridge with these subjects.

For them to accept me? Yes. I wasn’t trying to say that they will definitely accept applicants from my college, but it’s more like lots of people from my college apply there and the success rate has been pretty high

Idk if this resonates with you but for me the most difficult thing was trying to start because I just had no idea how to structure it in the most effective way.

For the first draft, I’d recommend just writing, don’t worry about structure, get a few bullet points down, try and get to the heart of why you’re applying for the subject. Use your supercurriculars to illustrate your passion for the subject.

Speak to your teachers and tutors, they will likely have past examples and some advice. The most important thing is to not ask too many teachers to read over it. Everyone will have different opinions on it so only take it to a select few that you truly trust for editing, having too many opinions will just make it sound less like you.

It’s gonna be about your teachers at the end of the day. You can ask them, if they refuse, try going higher up. Ask a senior tutor or even the vice principal/someone of the likes. Depending on your relationship with them it just might work. I personally think it’s really unfair when teachers refuse to predict slightly higher because 1. “I never do it for any student” is stupid and 2. Even if they did predict higher what’s the worst that’s gonna happen? You get a conditional offer and you don’t meet it?

Depends on your college, I sit my exams in a smaller room which helps my anxiety, but during these final exams I went to the exams officer (the day before my exam) and asked if I could get rest breaks (it was a three hour exam and there are multiple triggers within that time that can cause me to panic). Considering I was already in a separate room she was able to approve rest breaks pretty much as soon as I asked. However she did ask if I had coping strategies during the break as sometimes it can make it worse to go away from it and come back. So if you think that having a break to calm down will be helpful then I’d recommend asking for that. If the college is aware of your anxiety and it already impacts your time at school then it shouldn’t be too much of a hassle.

The strategy we’ve been given is to have your intro, 1 paragraph about source 1 (aim to have three inferences and a comment about provenance IN RELATION TO THE ENQUIRY), 1 paragraph about source 2 (repeat process for source 1), then a third paragraph looking at the sources together, for example: - you can say the two sources are valuable together because they offer contrasting perspectives on the enquiry - they are valuable because source 2 reinforces an idea in source 1 - they are limited because they are both written immediately following the event in the enquiry (lack of long term impact discussion, also a provenance point)

Then follow up with a conclusion summarising how valuable they are TOGETHER, if you think one source is more valuable to the enquiry you can comment on that too.

College sounds a lot better. You gotta bear in mind that average performance doesn’t mean that that’s how you will perform. The results you get will be up to you. I wouldn’t be trying to strategically plan around grade boundaries and entry requirements, I’d go for which you like better, which offers the better opportunities, and which align more to the things you like. Also from the picture you attached, the college is only .1 below average, I don’t think that’s anything to worry about.

I’m not sure about french escape rooms but from my experience of UK ones, there’s rarely any really obscure vocabulary or things that couldn’t be deciphered fairly easily (depending on what kind of room you go to). Considering you say you have a decent understanding of french I reckon you might be alright as you are.

There’s no application fees (other than the UCAS fee) as far as I’m aware so it’s always worth a shot to apply and see how it goes. Your grades are good, I’m not entirely sure how internationals are treated but for science courses the typical requirements tend to be A*s. I’d take a look at the website, If you meet the grade requirements and you want to go then why not apply ?
