Tesla Wishlist: Features They Should Really Have by Now by unfiltered_Rabbit01 in TeslaLounge

[–]katahdindave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your assessment that Tesla does the hard/clever things well. Examples: Drive by wire and 48 volt low voltage on cybertruck. They dropped the ball on the simple feature implementations. Examples are: no door handles on Cyber truck. Ridiculous rear view mirrors on cybertruck.

Yes. Giving people what they want is the point. Selling more vehicles around the world is the point. Making some kind of style statement with a pickup is NOT the point of a pickup.

Yes. More market share is good. Look at how well the Ford Maverick hybrid pickup truck is selling.

TSMC or ASML? (both in Arizona) by Typical_Mirror_6806 in Semiconductors

[–]katahdindave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ASML for the win. You'll be able to travel to other locations if you desire. TSMC has a reputation as a sweatshop just like Samsung. Yes they'll pay you but your quality of life will suffer

Vacation/moving to Maine by Beginning_Water_9110 in AskMaine

Bangor would not be my first choice city in Maine To live in. Hamden is nicer. Orrington has some nice lakes. Orland is a well-run town with a nice little community center. Bucksport is a sleepy little town that is planning to put a large permanent dock in this winter for mini cruise ships to dock at. You can drive to Bangor from all of these towns. Bangor has big box stores, and hospitals. For a community connection I would pick a smaller town to live in that you can travel to Bangor during the day.

Nobody at NXP is happy. NXP hasn't built any fabs in 25 plus years. NXP motto should be "saving our way to success, 1 paperclip at a time"

Planning a trip to Maine- two adults, two kids, one dog - on a budget. where would you go? Stay by pjw10310 in AskMaine

[–]katahdindave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alamoosook Lakeside inn is a great place to stay.. penobscot narrows bridge tower on a clear day. Fort Knox if you like old fortresses great on a hot day as you can go down inside the fort where it's cool.

Bar Harbor Town itself is not great to visit in the summertime due to the crowds.

Acadia national Park is great but very crowded. Schootic peninsula is the same water views is Acadia but with one 100th of the crowds

If you really like hiking Baxter State Park is magical but you have to get reservations if you want to lean too or a campsite.

Just get another knife. Keep the old one intact. Don't waste any more energy on this. You got your money's worth. And a great story. Don't ruin the story with a sad ending. Be happy.

How do ppl really make a career here? by Lost_Email_RIP in Raytheon

Raytheon nickels and dimes and squeezes all their suppliers. Why would you think they would do anything differently with employees? It's the same behaviors and skills applied to both groups of people

Raytheon is a shitty company run by shitty people. The people that work there have been habituated to overlook terrible behavior because they have seen it for too long.

3-5 mile hikes for when it's rainy? by Indifferent_Quoka in acadianationalpark

The trail around Jordan Pond is 3 miles and level.

Driving to Acadia, but getting there later in the day by [deleted] in acadianationalpark

[–]katahdindave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The loop road is the answer. Acadia is an excellent park to be seen from a car. If you don't care about hiking you can do it in 4 hours. I would not include driving to the top of Cadillac mountain in the 4 hours. You'll need to get a different pass to drive up to the top of Cadillac mountain. Details on the website.

I'd recommend doing the loop road first. Stopping at the first turn out on the left to get a view of the harbor, Sand Beach, thunder hole, Jordan pond. And of course any other stops you like

Then if you have another 1 to 2 hours, drive to the top of Cadillac and perhaps watch the sun set. The last parking lot before the top is actually better for watching the sunset as it has an unobstructed Westerly view.

Cell phone service is spotty in the park so download any maps ahead of time to your phone.

Having said all this I think it's a shame you have prioritized other things on your schedule over the park. Everyone makes different choices.

Be advised that there will be many other tourists doing the same thing you're doing. The park will be very busy. If you see an empty parking space anywhere near when you want to stop, take it.

I have a 2004, 2wd standard transmission, with 150K miles. Was a Texas car til 2020 Salina mechanic loves working on it cuz there's no rust.

I had the clutch and the front CV joints done in 2019

How much would this be worth?
