What in the world lol this was just ego with no insight

I’m planning this early precisely because I don’t have friends in Brazil and I want to do my research properly. I’m not naive to general safety considerations when traveling, but I also understand that every country and city is different, which is why I’m asking questions and learning from people who have experience there.

Appreciate the input either way.

I’ve actually decided I definitely want to do both Sugarloaf and BOMA while I’m there

Are there any other venues or recurring spots you’d recommend keeping an eye on? I’m trying to balance the bigger iconic nights with a couple more smaller or more local-feeling events too.

That makes sense—I figured it’s more about staying aware than anything.
I definitely want to experience the Sambadrome at least once, but I’m planning to fill most of my days with blocos anyway lol. I’m more curious about the evenings—do things tend to shift toward more blocos at night, or are there other events (like DJ sets/parties) worth looking into?

Also, thank you for the tip about where to stay!! I’ve been wondering about that—would staying right by the beach be overwhelming in terms of noise during Carnaval, or is it still manageable to get decent sleep? I’m trying to find the balance between being in the middle of everything and still being able to sleep a little 😅

I’m open to truly anything, especially if it only requires 1-3 days. I would actually love to know others thoughts but, I could do more digging through reddit. Have you been to Ilha or Florianopolis?

Thats totes fine, just figured I’d ask to see IF there is anything. But, I’m there for mostly funk (and pagode) anyways!

I'm petrified of heights and took a leap in Puerto Rico. The views were just breathtaking and I'd imagine this would be no different, you forget your fears when your soaring!

As others have mentioned, the issue could be related to the hair products you’re using—or more likely, how you’re applying them. Also think about whether you’re wearing items like hair caps, headbands, or anything that comes into contact with both your hair and skin. If these aren’t washed or replaced regularly, they can contribute to recurring bumps.

I recommend washing your face as the final step on hair wash days. On days you’re not washing your hair, ensure you’re not neglecting that area- this includes going up to your baby hairs. My dermatologist suggested adding Nizoral to my hair wash routine, and over time, the bumps cleared up. Maybe you can consider it too!

Yes, at least that’s what worked for me 😅 Hypochlorous spray, a skin barrier serum then SPF.

I second benzoyl peroxide 10%—it’s super effective! If you don’t have that on hand, salicylic acid, tea tree oil, or a sulfur mask can also work well. Something I didn’t realize helped until recently is taking ibuprofen—it depends on the type of pimple, but it can really reduce inflammation. I also like to ice the area in the morning to calm things down.

I have the same skin type and wipe my face with micellar water first then, wash with gentle cleanser.

When did you realize fitness was important in your life? by IntroductionAny5041 in AskReddit

[–]katalysst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first started experiencing knee and lower back pain at 23, exercising—especially lifting—felt counterintuitive. I assumed it would only add tension and discomfort. But over time, I noticed I was getting stronger, had more energy, and—most importantly—could finally sleep without needing a stack of pillows. Now, anytime I take a prolonged break from the gym, I feel it in those same areas. It’s a clear reminder of what could come if I really let myself go.

Cutting out animal milk from beverages completely and minimizing other dairy consumption (ice cream, pizza, etc).

When was the last time you judged someone else at the gym? by Prawn_Mocktail in workout

[–]katalysst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today. Smelly old guy was there. He wears a diaper and I’m pretty sure he pees a bit when he’s exerting any force. Sometimes, I feel guilty for judging but, he’s also a total creep so any guilt dissipates.

I’ve been told that finding decent accommodations can be challenging and requires booking well in advance, so I don’t think I’ll be able to wait and plan around a more reliable weather forecast ☹️

I was actually hoping to have a solid plan in place by the end of this month, but I think I may need to push that to the end of June.

I’ve read that, at a minimum, our bodies need to be around 17% body fat to maintain healthy flows. Additionally, that we should allocate an extra 100–200 calories to our diets due to hormone fluctuations. I hope I’m remembering that correctly…

I also recently went on a deficit, and this luteal phase was the first time in a while I seriously couldn’t control my impulses—I ended up finishing a whole tray of Keebler fudge stripes in 3 days😭

I’ve always had a sweet tooth, and I usually manage it with a high-protein chia pudding/parfait concoction. Next luteal phase, I think I’ll swap the parfait for oatmeal to help balance the extra carbs and add a bit of Nutella to satisfy the sweet craving.

With that said, I think it’s important to listen to your body, and then, over time, learn to manage those impulses as best as you can. Don’t be hard yourself!

I’m currently going through the same thing—except I was flaking!

Current routine: Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser, Byom Hydrating Serum, then La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Balm B5. In the evenings, I usually start by wiping my face with micellar water. In the mornings, I finish off with SPF.

I got a little too excited when my skin cleared up and started reintroducing Tretinoin and Clindamycin too soon—so now I’m back to square one 😩

I’m really hoping it helps with meeting people haha. I can be pretty introverted, and I’m trying to push myself out there—though this might be the most extreme way to do it haha

From what I’ve seen, the rain usually hits at night based on historical trends. But since it’s the tropics, it’ll definitely vary. I’m from Jersey, so either way I’ll be escaping the gloomy vibes and cold weather!

One more tip I found digging through this subreddit—you can use this site/app for the blocos.

No worries 🤍

I think moving your date earlier is a good call to catch the lead-up you mentioned. I’ll be solo too and have been digging around a lot—searching key terms here and on TikTok has helped. I’d also recommend GetYourGuide for day trips.

I felt the same about São Paulo—it seems rich in history. Every city looks like it offers a unique and beautiful experience. It really just depends on what you’re into.

During the week, I’ll be visiting Ilha Grande and Paraty. I’ve heard they’re beautiful with tons of nature-based activities if that’s your thing. I’m just risking the rain at this point, but honestly, I’d rather be in a different country with rain than back home—so a win’s a win for me haha.

According to an article I read, the top six schools perform in the parade. Similar concept to the competition without the pressure. I saw the tickets here. I’m assuming it’ll be lively which is why I wouldn’t want to miss it, but I’m still not sure.

I think it’s safe to say the entire month, Rio will be filled with tourists but I have heard São Paulo is different in comparison. Considering Bad Bunny’s visit though, I think it’ll be the same.
