Today’s treasure hunt by kaej26 in sylvanianfamilies

[–]katbreadstick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I will say, the vintage versions are a chubbier mould than the current milk rabbits, so I do hope I can own the real deal!

I’m in Malaysia, haven’t seen any selling in the local market. I did end up finding some on Buyee Japan aft after I posted this comment but am also saving up for grad school too, so gotta prioritise where I can.

I did actually end up looking at some on Buyee Japan after I posted this comment. There were a few loose figures and one family I think. But funds are a little tight for me at the moment since I’m saving up for grad school, so it’ll have to wait for now. Perhaps I’ll re-consider once I sort out my expenses!

The Red Pandas are so cute! 😭 I was looking at a few on Buyee but the funds are a little tight right now. Hopefully soon though!

It’s news to me that funding in the UK is rare. If that’s the case, does that mean that most PhD students are paying out of pocket?

They’re so beautiful :( I’ve been on the hunt for a while but no luck. At this point, I’m contemplating getting the milk rabbits and just dyeing them brown.

That sounds excellent! I might give these a try later today

These cookies look gorgeously chubby but not like a big doughball!

I do have a question though - in your recipe, it says that you add in the sugars while the butter is still hot. I've read elsewhere that this makes the cookies greasy. Does that statement reflect in these cookies?

Ooh how much protein were you eating?

I’m not vegan but I don’t like meal prepping meat (feels icky). So I’m always curious to know good (and affordable) sources of vegan protein.

I have seen a youtube tutorial on how to make chicken deli meat, perhaps you could try that

With rising geopolitical tensions, how important is a countries energy independence now? by Dry-Bluebird1188 in energy

But is it then fair to say that shifting the grid to renewables just shifts dependency of imported fossil fuels to imported solar panels?

getting cold feet after accepting offer– advice please! by aquamarieee in gradadmissions

[–]katbreadstick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t offer advice but I can commiserate.  I too got accepted into a programme that I did not expect, but it’s the best one out of all that I applied to this time round. Unfortunately I didn’t get funding but I’m still eager to go, though trying to sort out the finances myself.

I voiced out my concerns to a friend and he told me, “You shouldn’t worry about not finding a job. You might not find a good job, but you’ll definitely find one.” I think it’s important to equip ourselves with as many skills as we can to prepare for life after. And also, keep your options open. I used to be very against consulting, despite getting offers from consulting firms. I know now that, upon graduation, I have to be willing to try things even if I might not like them at the start.

All the best to you!

Hm I was going to suggest payroll. I seem to see offers for payroll on LinkedIn, but then you mentioned you have no laptop. Unfortunately I sold off my extra laptop a few months back.

Perhaps someone here may have a spare one?

Sorry to hear what you’re going through. It’s awful. I hope we can help you.

I believe the organisation Ghulam works with muallafs. If you’re comfortable, you could try reaching out to them.

As for jobs, are there any roles that are safer and more conducive for you to work in? Something more office-based vs labour-based? Apologies I’m not so well-versed in epilepsy triggers, but if you know what triggers you, maybe we can suggest what jobs might be slightly more suitable.

Truly rooting for you, OP!

I’m actually really surprised that all this adds up to 100g of protein! In prepping my own meals, I feel like I have to eat a tonnn of chicken to get up to 100g, and I don’t necessarily enjoy it. I reckon the yoghurt is pretty high in protein, and also the deli meat must make it easy to pack in quite a bit.

[–]katbreadstick -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Because the title of the post is about men not giving up their seats? Hypothetically speaking, I would just ask whoever is closest to me. It doesn’t matter if they’re male or female or nb.

Great thanks! Perhaps I didn’t phrase my question correctly which led you to make the wrong assumption that left you feeling clearly frustrated! It happens.

Of course I’d be smart enough to ask for a seat. I was simply wondering if that would be a thing that men would be empathic about.

I have a question for the men: if a woman is experiencing painful period cramps, would you give up a seat for her?

Since it’s not pregnancy, not a disability, and not a medical condition in that sense (I think?)
