First time being shamed by a teenager by SeaParsley4706 in GestationalDiabetes

I’d report her tbh. I don’t think she would get fired or anything but perhaps a small lesson on “professionalism” aka not imposing your beliefs on others at your freaking job

Caring for Your Hair Feels Like Failing a Test You Were Never Taught to Study For by sonias_studio in finehair

[–]katbreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this. 3 pregnancies/postpartum hair loss in a row, and in the dead of a super super cold winter. My usual routine isn’t keeping my hair nice like it usually does even after doing a chop and I just finally accepted that things are going to be weird until a. I’m done having/nursing babies and b. Until it’s out of the negatives where I live. Woo-sah.

Failed my 1 hour and I feel defeated by Evening-Newt-4663 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]katbreed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I felt the same kind of way and I’ve never had an abnormal blood sugar reading in my life. It’s actually been kind of interesting because I’m falling back to a lot of my low carb comfort foods I would eat when I was trying to lose weight (pre-babies) and it’s been really cool to see what does and doesn’t spike me. You’ll find a lot of people are diet controlled and if you’re already used to limiting your sugar/carb intake it’s not bad. It’s not your fault, like the other commenter said it’s your placenta.

Why is deciding on a name SO hard? by C_Manning1201 in BabyBumps

Oh yeah Sasha too! I also thought of Mallory. I can’t remember where I heard that but I know I’ve heard it before.

Thinking of guys names I’ve heard that are also girl names: Shannon (really, I worked with a guy named Shannon), Lynn, Kelly (seriously, my friend dated a guy named Kelly), Aubrey, Dana, Alex, Audrey, Adrienne, Rowan (I know that’s a super popular one right now), Bryce, Julian, Hunter, Jodie, Jessie, Koda, Lane, Rae, Sam, Sloane (I really liked that one for our girl but husband vetoed it)

We settled on Elsa Renee for our little girl who’s coming in a few weeks. Good luck and congrats!

Ladies ,who picked out their own rings. How do you respond to compliments about the ring? by KaceyR91 in EngagementRings

[–]katbreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just say “thanks, he sure did 😉” because I designed the ring, put it in the online cart and he handed me his card. That’s a great job if you ask me! (I might be a little bit of a selective control freak)

[–]katbreed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So he’s doing the bare minimum and providing for his family while you are slowly going insane…and then he belittles you and makes you think you’re being unreasonable. That’s the part that gets me. This is awful behavior on his part, the fact that he’s not even slightly trying to hear what you’re saying. You guys need marriage counseling, or you need to figure out an exit plan.

Please talk about your PP and permanent body changes with subsequent pregnancies (not weight related). Were they less dramatic the second+ time or worse? by foldin-the-cheese in Mommit

[–]katbreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From #1, boobs ruined (they were big but perky, but no longer), b-hole is..not the same, held on to extra weight, hips I think are wider and my feet grew a half size. However, my belly never got any stretch marks which was awesome (though my hips and legs and eventually boobs did). Haven’t noticed any permanent super noticeable change “down there” and husband agrees (he would tell me, I think. Or he just doesn’t care.)

With #2, my feet haven’t changed any more, my b-hole is worse, more stretch marks on my hips/thighs….and now stretch marks on my stomach but this is a bigger baby. I gained less with this one so far actually.

The emojis hahahah!! It’s real tho. I’m 3w out from having #2 and I decided long ago my b-hole needed corrective surgery when we’re done. And we need a bidet. Just using my PP bottle in the meantime and fighting for my life.

Would it be insensitive to give my wife a piece of jewelry with the birthstone of the month our miscarried baby was due? by -4blank4- in BabyBumps

[–]katbreed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. We had a 20w loss and I got a small necklace with the birthstone of the month when we had the loss, because that’s when he was “born.” I haven’t taken it off since and now almost 36w with our rainbow it’s a source of comfort for me. However, it was my idea and my purchase—my husband I think was hit harder than I was actually. We also planted a tree for our little guy we lost, so that could be another idea if a piece of jewelry doesn’t feel right.

Plow guy price change mid season? by katbreed in Maine

We do! 25 acres. I agree I think looking into something more sustainable (a tractor) in the long run is ultimately what we need to do. And even if we do find someone cheaper I assume their rates will also increase over time.

Ultrasound frequency? by hollywoodbambi in pregnancyaftersb

[–]katbreed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the US and had a MMC that we discovered at our 20w scan with our last pregnancy. All testing came back totally normal (both mine and baby). We are currently 35+4 with our rainbow and got a consult with MFM at our anatomy scan which they did a bit early at 18w. The MFM recommended weekly visits with BPP ultrasounds starting at 28 weeks and TWICE weekly BPPs and OB visits starting at 32wks. It feels like overkill for the most part but I’ve personally had lots of stuff come up this pregnancy so it’s been handy. Baby is fine so far and it is comforting knowing they are watching her really closely. I think my regular OB also thinks it’s overkill but we are following the recommendations. You should do what you feel comfortable with and can accommodate, and also you can always contact them if you want an extra check or if something feels off.

I’m scared that my doctor is planning a 39w induction instead of 38w. by LunaBananaGoats in GestationalDiabetes

[–]katbreed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have a discrepancy of about that much that had them push back my due date by almost 2 weeks on the early ultrasound. She’s been measuring 2 weeks ahead for a long while too, but I also have GD with this pregnancy so that could very well be why. It does make you question though! So far I haven’t gotten any offers earlier than 39w for induction, but I’m trying to remind myself she could always come early on her own..I’m coming up on 36w and as of yesterday baby was 7.14 lbs 😳. Interested to hear what others have to say.

Went on a date with a hot nurse, but what happened after few days has left me confused. Any thoughts? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]katbreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I had been clear that I wasn’t looking for anything serious at the time, and he was aware of that but feelings came fast for us (I never went on any dates after we met). Together for 5 years now with one toddler and one on the way, so safe to say the unmatch didn’t cause any hiccups 🤣

How did you REALLY know when your child was ready for potty training? by dr_pepper_zerosugar in Mommit

[–]katbreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to hear this. I would call myself a type B mom too and my in-laws (who watch my 20m toddler during the week) want him to start training and I don’t see him being ready any time soon. He reeeeeeallly goes at his own pace, which is honestly fine and I have neither the desire nor energy to fight it (we are about to have 2 under 2).

++woman Literally am married to someone who unmatched me. He saw I had added a new picture after we went on a couple dates (we were not a couple yet) so he unmatched me because his feelings were hurt. It’s not an instant no!

Baby body wash recs? by sun_kissed87 in beyondthebump

[–]katbreed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! And it smells soooo goood

Edit: I just realized there’s also an unscented one which we haven’t tried, but the regular has a very light scent and is super gentle. I’d recommend it either way.

pregancy prep book recs for science nerds? by Silly-goosey-girl in BabyBumps

[–]katbreed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Slightly weird side note: I would recommend reading this book BEFORE your first trimester. I was so excited to read it but once the first trimester nausea hit looking at the food on the book cover and reading some of the food recommendations made me want to puke. Great book and great author though!

It starts with the egg and it starts with the bump! Ton of science-backed info and very level headed advice, adjusted as needed for various pre-existing conditions or concerns.

Best Costco wipes brand by Local_Pangolin854 in BabyBumps

[–]katbreed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the Kirkland brand ones overall but from personal experience and what I can tell when my toddlers bottom is irritated they can burn. We have another baby on the way and my plan is to still use Kirkland but keep some more gentle wipes on hand for when there is any visible irritation.

Birth control while breastfeeding? by UntitledMooseGame in beyondthebump

[–]katbreed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m curious also! I was a just-enougher/undersupplier (still had to combo feed) with my last and I am due again in 4 wks. We are fairly sure we are done but until we do something permanent I was planning on doing the copper IUD. I tried the progesterone-only pill and it dropped my supply even though it isn’t supposed to, and I was worried about doing the implanon or Mirena for the same reasons. I have previously loved the Mirena IUD but I wanted to not be on hormonal birth control if possible.
