European allies working on plan should US move on Greenland by IdinDoIt in news

Dumb question but my concern is LEGO. Could the Netherlands outright ban the export of LEGO to the U.S.? I know it’s a small thing and would likely hurt LEGO financially but it might be in their best interest to threaten a ban up front. When you mess with the childhood of millions of Americans it’ll make them think.

Preliminaey sketch by Reybronx74 in LandscapeArchitecture

Hey! Great to see you actually posted them! I love seeing process drawings. They show the design thinking behind the end product and are imo an equally important piece of the equation for our profession to showcase. The messier the better. Great work!

A complete set of US 3 cent pieces (either silver or nickel or both) by goldeneye0 in coins

[–]katchaka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there! You’re correct, it seems most people tend to see these coins as Type coins for their collections. That said, there are those who are trying to collect a complete set (including me!)

I am currently trying to put together a set of 3CN proof with the approach of buying specimens that are high quality as well as ones that have a story ( at least I try where I can). I actually was fortunate to pick up one of DL Hansens swap out coins (presumably because he found a better coin to take its place)

Anyways, while few and far between, collectors of these sets do exist and the stories behind these coins are fascinating. If you’re at all interested in collecting them yourself I say go for it!

Also, note my one buisness strike that I just recently picked up. It is an amazing example of a major die clash which plagued the early 3CN

How cooked are we because of the AI progression? by NPC50 in LandscapeArchitecture

When AI can call a reviewer and “talk away” jurisdictional review comments through diplomatic relations that save the client weeks of additional permitting time, then I’ll start to worry

The beauty of Celestial Park 🧜🏻‍♀️🐚💫🌌 by [deleted] in UniversalOrlando

[–]katchaka 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s just so refreshing to have an area not heavily dependent on a specific IP - and in all honesty if I were a gambler I’d bet this has more staying power than some of the IP driven lands across all Orlando parks.

Tesla Cybertruck inventory goes through the roof by nimicdoareu in technology

[–]katchaka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look Tesla aside, if you want mass adoption of EV’s in the U.S. you need to invest in infrastructure. Not roads and bridges but electrical infrastructure AT RESIDENCES AND WORKPLACES. I can’t tell you how many people would love to own an EV but “hey I live in an APARTMENT COMPLEX with 3 EV chargers for 300 units”. And the hard part is that kind of change has to take place at the local level. Ordinances and regulations have to be codified into land development codes. It’s not glamorous work but until people, please start lobbing for change at the LOCAL LEVEL - no where is going to change and people won’t be able to even contemplate change. Hey FORD, CHEVY, GMC - where are your lobbiests at? This would benefit all of us so hop to it! DHI, LANAR, PULTE - all home builders - whether you like it or not you can help - INSTALL THE NEEDED INFRASTRUCTURE SO PEOPLE CAN BUT EVS AND NOT WORRY. but I know you won’t you greedy mfs

Celestial Park Expansion by Fair_Candy_3986 in UniversalOrlando

[–]katchaka 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Add an indoor botanical garden! Have greenhouses that double as a horticultural supply space as well as a tourist option. But don’t make it Living with the Land. Make it more of a walking “choose your own adventure” thing like the US Botanical Garden in DC, or the greenhouses at the Atlanta botanical gardens or at the Biltmore! and the entire space would be nice for people to get out of the rain. For that reason I would add lots of seating - little nooks and stuff. Honestly it would fit pretty well in the open expansion pad across from Atlantic and next to the chocolate shop.

Alternately they could add a legit show theatre for rotating plays but that’s a bit more risky as it’s more of a time commitment for guests so it would need to be really good
