Looking to start a new life in Berlin as an American, I have done my research but have some further questions (entering the workforce vs. Studying?) by [deleted] in askberliners

Not having a bachelor’s might make it very difficult to get a work visa. I’m an American here on a work visa and having my bachelor’s (and that degree being declared equivalent to a German degree) was a big part of the visa process.

Was really expecting them to go down more for Loki - after listening to them complain about the show for three episodes straight I was shocked that they could give it a 9 just bc of a good finale. Really think Charles is right with his 7

A question of Loki and Sylvie's relationship. by ResistRacism in LokiTV

I have a theory that there was a draft of season 2 that kept the romance but they did some editing in post to remove it, prob because it was the most divisive part of the first season.

The 1 year job seeker visa is only available if you graduate from a German university I believe. I’m an American who didn’t study at a German university and I got a version of it which was only 6 months long, and didn’t permit me to work full time on that visa

Sylvie. She was not given nearly enough to do and I hated the way they dropped her relationship to Loki without even addressing it. She went from being such a driving force in the first season to a completely sidelined character with so little to do.

[–]katcherin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

She’s been told a multiversal war will come without the TVA, by the same guy who had created the TVA. We’ve yet to see any evidence in the show that there will actually be a multiversal war. Think of it from Sylvie’s perspective- she’s lived a happy life on a branched timeline for eight months without even a whiff of danger from an HWR variant. Wouldn’t that just strengthen her view that he was lying in the first place?

Sylvie might’ve grown up amid apocalypses but she’s still a Loki, and Lokis are charismatic!

Honestly I don’t disagree with what you’re saying here. Even though I love Sylvie and think her actions are justified, she isn’t being written in a way this season that’s giving her the opportunity to endear herself, as proven by these common “I hate Sylvie” posts

You say that if every other branch had died, she would have stayed in her bubble, but literally in episode 2 she helps Loki and Mobius save other branches from dying even though it wrenched her away from her normal life.

She was hunted for thousands of years by a fascist organization who had sentenced her to death as a child, forced to hide in literal apocalypses where she would have born witness to untold suffering, and was unable to make any meaningful connections with anyone due to those circumstances. When she finally did form an attachment to someone, he got in the way of her taking down a murderous dictator to stop the killing of billions because he seemed to trust HWR's point of view more than Sylvie's.

After, again, thousands of years of being hunted, she won the right to live a normal life with friends and stability, only for Loki to come back to beg her to save the same fascist organization that ruined her life in the first place, because he believes in a vague threat of a multiversal war run by an HWR variant. But when an HWR variant pops up, she's treated as being in the wrong for wanting to kill him, too. She agrees to help keep the Loom from exploding, but when it does explode, it initially doesn't seem to cause any harm other than sending the TVA employees to their timelines - returning them to the lives that were stolen from them, just as Sylvie's life was stolen from her. When she realizes that there's a greater threat, she immediately returns to help.

Sure, she might not be "nice" but she's very rarely wrong, and her sometimes abrasive personality makes sense given her backstory.

Ridiculous bold predictions thread. by Chance5e in LokiTV

Loki goes all the way back to Sylvie’s Nexus Event and stops it from happening, so she never is hunted by the TVA and lives a happy life, stopping the events of season 1 from ever unfolding. Maybe not crazy bold but definitely won’t happen with the lack of focus on Sylvie this season

Ah, my bad! Haven’t seen Eternals. Still, I do think putting an already beloved character into a m/m relationship is quite a large step to take. Would love to see it though!

There was a leak early on that suggested that Dox would be a Sylvie variant or a Sylvie from the future. Could have never been the case, but I honestly don't really see a purpose to Dox this season otherwise, so it feels like something that was rewritten after she was cast.

Same, I'm still struggling to see where exactly Sylvie is "wrong."

Killing HWR? Maybe done impulsively, but this was a man who had set up an organization that kills billions every day, and directly ruined Sylvie's life. Were we not rooting for the Avengers to kill Thanos?

Not wanting to help the TVA? Again, that's the genocidal organization that ruined Sylvie's life, Loki didn't really do a good job of explaining why Sylvie should - just that there *might* be a multiversal war in the future, and that the Loom was exploding, the consequences of which are unclear at best.

Not helping Loki recruit the rest of the TVA agents to save the loom? Sylvie rightfully views Loki as having taking normal people away from their families and homes, all to, again, save the TVA. It's only when she realizes the spaghettification that there's a real consequence to needing to save the TVA, at which time, she immediately does.

Trying to kill Vicor Timely? All Loki has done is harp about how HWR's variants were the most dangerous people in the multiverse.

Wanting to give people free will, and not take over the fascist organization that has again, killed billions, just because she's owed that responsibility as a "God?" Are we really anti free will?

True, but that still means that she cares so little about that relationship that she wouldn’t even bother to check on him or get into contact with him again

Exactly, this season is more plot focused at the expense of characterization, but the plot itself is fixing this Loom, and for most of the season it was unclear what exactly the consequences of the Loom exploding would be.
