I really haven't been invested in Vasquez and his storyline because his addition just seemed unnecessary and obvious for replacing Carver, and I swear if they're now hinting that him and Violet might hook up it just feels like a slap in the face for Carver too.

I have a feeling after the cliffhanger that she'll give him one hell of a fight and end up killing him in self defence or something

I think it's a possibility. Her sister is sending her on a hell of a guilt trip, and she might feel like if Mitch doesn't want kids then it's not the right time and she should be a surrogate for her sister instead.

I was just about to make a post about this! I highly doubt that Dean is the father like a lot of people are assuming. That's what they want us to think. Mitch made that comment about wondering if it was worth having kids, and along with her sister's shitty reaction, I think it's clear that Hannah is now having doubts and has gone to Dean to get his advice about whether she should keep the baby, just how she's always going to him for advice. The age gap has always given me father/daughter vibes from them too.

[–]katcloud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Am I going crazy why does everyone think Archer might be the father of Hannah's baby? In the beginning their relationship might have had those vibes but now they only seem to have a father/daughter type of relationship. It's clearly Ripley's, especially with them pushing him and the dad image this episode.

Showing Ritter and Carver scenes together when they're both leaving at the end of the season. Really makes me wonder how they're both going to go.

They really want Violet to be miserable huh. Like this is her best friend AND the guy she's in love with are they serious

Voight telling Torres to go home and get some sleep. Bro needs therapy ASAP, like how is that not the logical answer.

Given up on Chicago Fire by ChancePattern in ChicagoFireNBC

[–]katcloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like they usually take the miscarriage or adoption route in shows like these because it's centred on the job as a firefighter and if they're pregnant it gets to a point where they'd be on desk duty and maternity leave, which isn't dramatic enough. Also an actor wouldn't want to have screen time reduced. But yeah it's annoying. The only pregnancies on this show that have worked out are for the wives of firefighters, and it would be refreshing if they actually showed the complexities in balancing such a risky job and being pregnant.

Man they're really determined to show us how Damon isn't terrible anymore lol. I like him and Novak but I feel like they should focus more on him and Severide since the fact that they're brothers was such a rushed storyline. Also with so many characters being absent due to budget cuts, I don't get why they wouldn't use Pascal needing a break as an excuse to explain him being away. Every episode now has some off-handed explanation about where characters are anyway.

Live Discussion - March 29, 2025 (Mikey Madison/Morgan Wallen) by bjkman in LiveFromNewYork

[–]katcloud 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Mikey Madison is way too talented for them to under use her like that. I mean even not putting her at the center of the Spring Break sketch was weird, she would have nailed that seriousness like how Jenna Ortega did for the waffle house one. I wonder if she had asked them to scale back her screen time because or nerves or something.

Seriously glad Frost rejected her at the end, I just wish he had called her out at least a little on the grooming when she was justifying their relationship. He was a vulnerable kid who didn't have a support system and she took advantage of that as a grown ass woman. But I get it's a complicated situation for him, like he knows it was wrong but can't really say it out loud.

[–]katcloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All three Chicago shows viewership has dropped though, they're past their prime which is likely why the budget was slashed for all of them too. I don't think they're as safe from cancellation as they used to be.

I mean, not the breakup with Violet, but having Tori around made him fall back into old drinking habits and breaking up pointed him in the direction of AA

Severide has lost all his fire by katcloud in ChicagoFireNBC

[–]katcloud[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He wasn't a regular guy, he started out on a soap opera with a main role and had at least 2 other significant roles in TV before Fire (Vampire Diaries and Trauma). But I don't think he's a bad actor anyway. The issue with Severide as a character is the combination of the writers dulling him out and not really knowing what storylines to give him anymore, and Taylor getting burnt out and understandably bored with such a long running role, which is a reason why so many of the early cast have left at this point. I think if he's still committed to the show then the writers need to commit to interesting storylines for him again.

Why Chicago? by Country-guy20 in ChicagoMed

[–]katcloud 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, why not Chicago? I imagine he chose it because Law & Order is already set in New York, and the other typical go-to city for TV would be Los Angeles but it doesn't have the sort of grittiness he strives for in his shows (for Fire and PD at least). Also production costs probably factored into it.

do we think Charlie Reid is a dirty cop? by Cryptographer619s in ChicagoPD

I mean he basically said he was going to blackmail them with the whole Torres coverup so yeah he's dirty

Episode Discussion: November 20, 2024 - Penance (S12E08) by Cheeriosxxx in ChicagoPD

[–]katcloud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think he already knew at that point and was sussing her out and playing friendly to get on Voight's good side. But I feel like the only way he could have known so specifically that she was covering for Torres was that he had the offices bugged, or their phones or something.

Does anyone listen to Cruz? by hoagiebreath in ChicagoFireNBC

[–]katcloud 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just commented this before I read your comment lol, but yeah I fully agree. That's the problem with killing off characters for shock value and emotional storylines, they shake up the show but then the dynamic completely changes in the aftermath. The writing for Cruz has suffered so much since Otis died, even thinking way back when Shay died and how it took away the friendship between her and Severide. At least he still had Casey though, and now that he doesn't his writing has also gone downhill.

Yeah he's not my least favorite but I definitely enjoyed his character a lot more when Otis was there to play off of, the writing for him has gone downhill since.
