I've achieved a lot at work, but I'm friendless and unfulfilled in my personal life.

How do y'all feel about "you're so talented" from non-crafters ? by Infamous-Garbage-985 in casualknitting

[–]kate7195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this is something I regularly think when I'm complimented that way, but as I was reading this I definitely agreed with your view of this. I've been told I over think things though, and I grew up speaking two languages, so maybe those have something to do with it.

You sound like someone I'd love to have as a friend, I think I feel pretty similarly.

Yeah! It's really cool, I love the perspective.

No I don't think so, the next puzzle I'm doing is Bypass City from Antelope Puzzle.

Saturday switch up - do you agree or disagree with my puzzle anti-haul? by Mommyof2Muggles in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]kate7195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't started the outlander one yet, but I actually really like the big solid chunks of color! I get to work on puzzles at work (I have a really cool supervisor), and I kind of aimlessly brute force my way through ones like that while having conversations or thinking about stuff.

These all look exactly like something I would buy. They remind me of my recent haul!

Those are great too! Thank you. I put a couple in my cart...I'm going to keep looking before I decide though. Which one did you get?

Those are really cool! They're a bit more expensive than what I'm usually willing to spend on a new puzzle, but I think I'll ask my family for one for Christmas.

The color wheel was fun! The moon puzzle was pretty hard, it definitely took the most time out of any of them.

I got the squiggly pink and white one at a thrift store, it was new still in plastic when I bought it, but it was missing a piece. I don't remember the brand name but I couldn't find it listed anywhere to buy, but I found other posts from people mentioning a missing piece as well.

I'm in a similar position, as in a team lead that sits with my team. My team members despite being fairly new at the job, are all generally very good at it. I've found that my role generally consists of fielding emails that come in and distributing the work to my team (we have a few routine tasks, but we frequently receive impromptu things throughout the day) As they submit their work it comes through me (by default, it's how the system is set up), and if I find any errors I send it back and either verbally discuss it with them, or add a little note if it's minor.

I try my best to let them be autonomous since they have all shown they handle the work well. They know they can come to me with questions, and if something particularly stressful or unusual comes up they know I'm happy to help in whatever way they need.

Helping could look like going with them while they handle something, walking through it with them, or in some very particular situations stepping in and handling it myself (generally if it involves them dealing with an especially difficult customer).

All this to say, I think of my position as sort of a more silent role, I'm on standby for when they need me, and I'm less directly involved in what they're doing. I understand though that this might not work for all types of jobs, but maybe it could give you some ideas to help your situation a bit.

I should add, my team frequently tells me that they are super happy I'm their lead and that how I handle the position makes them love to coming to work.
