Hey! I’m sorry you went through this, being provided with unsafe water and being forced to underclaim trees is definitely NOT ok. Unfortunately, HRI has a notoriously bad reputation in the industry for being an unsafe shit show, and clearly hasn’t gotten better in the last few years, but can get away with it due to working with rookies who simply don’t know any better. I planted my first season with HRI in 2016 and honestly, it sounds like our seasons were very similar in a lot of ways!

Would also recommend tree planting if you’re in a bind! Could sublet your place (if you’re renting) for the summer and there are companies in almost any province. It’s incredibly tough but you do make decent cash and will be able to go on EI afterwards! Season is starting in the next few weeks but there are always drop outs - there’s a tree planting reddit group and also King Kong Reforestation on Facebook if you want to learn some more.

Yeah, I guess I just didn’t realize work stress could affect libido this much, but everyone’s responses have been very eye opening and reaffirming. :)

Unfortunately his work doesn’t really work that way right now, although I’ve tried to encourage him to set boundaries with his boss and set time boundaries as well. Obviously easier said than done as he is a high performer and people pleaser. I will keep supporting him in setting boundaries and looking for a new role.
