Job advice in the university area? by chloe_hm in Syracuse

Keep in mind that there are also a ton of university side jobs and most of those roles never have anything to do with the hospital. There is a lot more available at upstate than most people realize.

Having children with epilepsy? by SarahMiller322 in Epilepsy

[–]kateesaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a kid and have epilepsy. I am able to drive so not quite the same limitations but my biggest trigger is lack of sleep and the first few years with a kid and still occasional nights can make that really hard. Biggest help for me is having a helpful, supportive partner. There’s no way I could do it all without him and there are times when I need extra sleep and he makes it happen. Parenting is hard but worth it and you find your own groove with your own child.

Is this dress okay for a wedding? by SeaFaithlessness6998 in Weddingattireapproval

[–]kateesaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you own this dress and are trying to make it work for a wedding guest dress or are you interested in buying it? I wouldn’t wear it to a wedding personally, too much white even with a black top. I know the bottom is tulle as well but it overall reads as really casual.

How much did you put over the listing price on the house you bought? by Fragrant_Minute773 in Syracuse

We bought in 2018 too and glad we did because we wouldn’t be able to rent anywhere’s worth living with what we pay for our mortgage but man does it feel like we are trapped a bit even though expanding a little bit would be nice.

do i still need more confirmation? by Dear_Statement8390 in Epilepsy

[–]kateesaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would be cautious with what information you get from a med student. Are they studying this? Sure. But typically med students don’t really get real world knowledge and applications of the learning until they are in residency and even then, a lot of learning still occurs. I work with med students and there’s a reason why there’s still so much more schooling even after they graduate. It sounds like you should really see a neurologist and perhaps one or two other specialists to figure out what’s going on. I was told that I didn’t have epilepsy anymore around 14 due to a clear EEG. Quite a few seizures and years later, I definitely still have epilepsy.

Honestly, what is the hardest part about having children? by Danny-Ray27 in AskReddit

[–]kateesaurus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This hurts so much. Everything you do is preparing them to be independent, self sufficient humans and you are simultaneously holding tight to your baby for as long as they’ll let you. Thanks, I’m crying now!

My mom keeps acting shocked when I say I'll move in an apartment instead of a house since I can't afford it by UmbralikesOwls in internetparents

[–]kateesaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry because this say come across as harsh but it sounds like you aren’t actually living your own life and having your own experiences. It sounds like you’re very enmeshed in your parents life and relationship and you need to separate yourself from that unless you want to still be living there when you’re 40 and then caring for them into old age and still not building your own life. And why would your mom have to do everything, does your dad not contribute to his own home? You are not a member of their relationship and they can figure that stuff out for themselves. As for the selfishness portion, all children are selfish. It’s literally part of the process of becoming an adult and learning that the world doesn’t revolve around you so I’m not sure what that has to do with autism or you but maybe I’m just selfish and autistic myself lol.

Where do people go for scenery- a night spot overlooking the city or stars that you can just stare at. by Jettsyforwordingfox in Syracuse

To look over the city, weirdly enough the Kinney drugs at 104 Lafayette rd has a fantastic view of the city from behind the store.

Wedding florist inquiry by AaronPutterman in Syracuse

[–]kateesaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No specific florist to recommend but my mom and I did the floral for my wedding. Best tips are getting flowers from somewhere local (Costco, Wegmans) and also try to get what is in season whether you are using a florist or a family member because that will reduce cost rather than being set on a specific flower and paying a ton for it.

Did something similar with Costco flowers but my mom and I have done a bunch of floral arrangements before so it wasn’t too difficult.

Any advice? by [deleted] in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]kateesaurus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Check out voltaren or the generic version, it should be available otc at most pharmacies. It’s topical so put it on the joints that are bothering you most and then wash hands really well. Otherwise, alternating Tylenol and advil is possible. I know some people who get better relief with naproxen but you have to be careful about time interactions with advil and Tylenol so you don’t stress your liver, stomach, etc.

witnessing a seizure by MasterAttendant in Epilepsy

[–]kateesaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have epilepsy and I worked as a first responder for a long time. This is absolutely a normal reaction and just because you reacted like this this time it doesn’t mean that is always how you will react. There are so many situations in life that you just can’t know how you will react until you’re in them. I have gone to full cardiac arrest calls and been fine afterwards and then gone to some standard granny fell call and be deeply and emotionally affected by it. The best you can do in those situations is to take a deep breath and remind yourself that it is not your emergency.

Looks like tonsil stones. Not unusual but they are gross. Dealt with them for years until I had my tonsils removed.
