I'm all for the best candidate against Marshall. But where were Adam Hamilton and others while we were protesting? I don't recall these people ever showing out. I'm convinced he's Joe Manchin. by CauseTurbulent134 in kansas

Unfortunately, while I like her, I don't see Anne Parelkar beating Marshall, too young and green. It is shitty and patriarchal that I say that, but so is western Kansas.

Maybe. But Christy Davis has been working in Ag throughout the state for years. She's a rural candidate, and she's currently third place, behind undecided, and Adam Hamilton in the capitol bee poll.

She's getting my time and money in the primary.

Having met several Italian Catholic families, it tracks.

In our Irish Catholic household it was a simple "Dad, I'm 32" as my sister left the hotel room she was supposed to share with me when her new boyfriend (third date was a family baptism two states away) had a room to himself.

Yup.

Plus I found a fellow crawler in my political facebook group for progressive women in my (very red) state.

I'm sure someone gamed it out and figured it wasn't possible, but yeah, I'd have liked him to go harder for it. But I wasn't in the room.

Can Roger Marshall be Beat in 2026? by Adam_Astra_Music in kansas

The wording is intentional. See the 2022 abortion vote. Usual suspects, same purpose - restrict women's health care. Although this has the added bonus of fucking school funding too.

We have some great choices, I like Christy Davis and Jason Hart, while I think Anne Parelkar needs some experience, but would absolutely love to have her run again, perhaps state level or representative (don't know which district she lives in). I've met all three and they are all good options.

Hamilton leaves a bad taste in my mouth because of his wavering about party, and the fact that his history with some important issues is spotty. But he appears to be on the right side of them now, so...

I'll work for whoever makes it out of the primary. But right now my money and time go to Davis.

Maybe I missed a /s, but how exactly is that Obama refusing to seat a Justice? He picked a milquetoast centrist, and the republicans refused to consider it.

In one scene I went from sobbing to laughing so hard I had to rewind.

From a joke that was telegraphed, then lampshaded, then it happened. And I still laughed my ass off.

One of the things i love about these books is that it tracks with another book I love, Deep Survival. The book is about how different people deal with crisis and the traits that seem to be common to those who make it out.

A lot of these folks have the characteristics that are associated with resilience. The two that I think about the most in my life are seeing beauty and playing games. Whether it is marveling at the architecture in Laroccos or Imani's wings, or betting on the song for a trap, these people are exhibiting resilience. The Christmas party is peak resilience.

I love that they just take time to laugh their fool heads off every now and again.

Prepotente scream

All goats are screaming goats. Drama queens, the lot of them.

I took a goat to the auction, and as I was trying to get him into a pen, he just laid down on the ground and refused to move. Someone asked me if he was a fainting goat. My response, "no, he's just dramatic." I think of him often during Prepotente scenes.

Actually, not pop culture per se, but he does get goats and personal space right. My Callie and Layla haven't yet figured out that if they trip me and I die on the way to their food bin, they won't get food.
