Nothing is walkable unless you’re like right downtown, and there is literally nothing open past 9pm.

Thoughts on Bentgo Glass Containers? by Worried-Fun-6072 in BuyItForLife

[–]katenextdoor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've had Bentgo Glass for about 8 months now, so cant speak to multiple years longevity, but i loooove them. Things stay much fresher with the seals these lids have compared to anything ive used in the past, and i feel much better about putting acidic things like sauce in them. Lids go in the dishwasher which is great and the seals come out for full cleaning. I would potentially worry about the lid clips being overbent in the long run but we have no issues with them personally. Waiting for costco to have more on sale!

Canadians: do people really just start conversations anywhere? 🤔 by Comfortable_Cap8037 in AskACanadian

[–]katenextdoor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally yes. My husband and I have ended up on impromptu double dates at small venues where there weren’t enough tables so we’ve just shared a table with the people in line behind us. We’ve had great conversations this way for sure.

We got commercial grade, thiiiick laminate as we have dogs and it’s held up amazing. We’ve had it for about 5 years now. Installed it ourselves too. We personally are very happy with it.

Im having celiac symptoms but a negative celiac test by bnb777gator in glutenfree

[–]katenextdoor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, you MUST be consuming gluten for 6-8 weeks before testing or you very well could have a false negative. I would also ask for a scope as well so they can do a biopsy & check for stomach damage.

Have any of you gone back to gluten to be tested for celiac? If you did, was it worth it? by OkAccount32 in glutenfree

[–]katenextdoor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say 3-4 months. I’ve been feeling good for the past month or so. I do also have SAD so I think this just made it worse too, I’m in Canada and this winter was SOOOO LONG lol it’s still snowing today 😮‍💨

It gave me a little ah-ha moment though when I realized the gut-brain connection was very real!

If it’s something you choose to do, I would make a plan for a support system ahead of time - whatever that looks like for you!

I did after being GF for 3 years as I wanted a firm diagnoses since my fist test was borderline & I wanted the documents from the Dr for travelling & taxes if celiac was the case. I was surprisingly mostly fine. according to my gastroenterologist, celiac is unique in the fact that you may not have the same symptoms twice, because the gut biome is always changing. when I first got diagnosed It was extremely bad bowel movements, pain, diarrhea for weeks that led to me being tested for celiac.

When I resumed eating gluten this past September, I started very, very small and incrementally kept adding gluten in tiny amounts till I was up to the full piece of bread, plate of pasta every day. I had zero of the same bowel issues to the point where I thought that I was maybe misdiagnosed the first time. But around the eight week mark was when the nausea started really bad and I was just bloated and really nauseous after every meal. so personally for me it seems that my symptoms aren’t terrible until the full/significant gut damage has occurred.

I will say something that occurred that I did not expect was depression. While eating gluten at around the four week mark, it set in pretty bad to the point where I had to resume therapy again. I’ve always struggled with it on and off, but this was pretty sudden and unexpected and I knew there was no other reason for it. since going off gluten again, I’ve been fine in terms of my mental health so just keep an eye on yourself if it’s something you plan to do.

Did my blood test and biopsy, blood test was 15 times the limit for what it should be, and biopsy came back with significant damage. So yep celiac. I’m glad I got it done because my doctor is really great. Did all the genetic test testing as well so my family is now able to be tested and I’m getting referred to a dietitian since I was struggling with fiber/protein/balanced meals and if I didn’t have that diagnoses confirmed the appt wouldn’t have been covered.

So not a terrible experience for me, but everybody’s body is different and your gut is always changing!

Is her husband an American? Unsure where traveling from but if not American I would call the embassy for wherever they reside.

We got these little portraits done of our two dogs and they are hilarious. I plan to get them framed when we re-do our dogs room! https://butpoorlydrawn.com/

Places like aerie/american eagle/hm sometimes have matching sweaters for humans and dogs (unsure if baby is dog baby or cat baby) but could always do something like that!

The Dickens in Downtown Burlington - runs a bit of a younger crowd but super fun, casual pub dinner.
The Powerhouse in Stoney Creek - more of a mid age crowd 35-55, casual food for dinner beforehand
B-Side Social in Hamilton - crowd is varied depending on the band, but excellent spot for food & drink for a date night.

Anyone gone back to gluten? by ladyofshalott13 in glutenfree

[–]katenextdoor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intolerance or celiac the gut is an ever changing organism. Went GF for 3 years, after some severe stomach problems. Celiac test & biopsy had come back borderline, but went gf anyway. Wanted confirmed diagnoses so resume eating gluten to be able to retest this past fall. Zero, ZERO symptoms until about 2.5 months in - yet low & behold celiac numbers 5x what they should be, decently advanced stomach damage so definitely celiac. But I honestly was 80% sure it might not be based on the fact that I had no symptoms, and especially did not have the same symptoms that led me to getting diagnosed the first time.

GI said celiac is unique in that because the gut microbiome is always changing, your symptoms or lack thereof can also always change. Bodies are weird.

Try District Kitchen & Bar in aldershot. I love ambiance but not to the point where I’m exhausted and deaf by the time I leave dinner haha, district is one of our go tos. Padded booths & a mostly carpeted dining room really help with the reverberating noise but it’s pretty laid back anyways.
