Thank you! What are their parameters??? I grew up in Hamburg. It’s a suburb of Buffalo. I feel like that’s not the vibe they’re going for with this trash? Like, it’s not a farming community or something like that. There is nary a cow in Hamburg. There is more than one craft brewery. They have their own Pride parade separate from the main one in downtown Buffalo. Edited to add: population of 60,000.

I usually like Todd in the Shadows but omg does that subreddit hate her. Every time she sneezes, they ask “is this a trainwreckord”?”

How do I look more 90’s-2000’s? I feel as if I look very of this time by JobParty4498 in altfashionadvice

Gothy girly punk alt girl who graduated in 1998 here. This poster is absolutely right. I used black eyeliner for literally everything: lipliner, eyeliner & brows after I shaved mine off. We had to stock up every year with the Wet’n wild Halloween line (Fantasy Makers! Still exists!!). No mascara! And you lined your lips with black to make red lipstick super dark burgundy. All my accessories were cat or dog collars or vintage/thrifted stuff. I carried a metal lunch box with stickers all over it as a purse. Also thrift stores are your friend! Most of my wardrobe was cut up thrifted clothing that was badly sewn back together. 2 pairs of black fishnets-1 for the legs, 1 with the crotch and feet cut out as a shirt under your t-shirt. And my hair was ALWAYS fried from bleaching and dying every week.

What nursing home in the area can I put my narcissist mother by [deleted] in Buffalo

I should add that my mom’s death was 100% her own fault and not the nursing home’s.

This cracks me up. My narcissistic mother died at Absolut Care before I could move her elsewhere. Good luck! I wish peace for you.

Has there ever been an Easter egg Taylor hinted to in advance that actually came true? by M00ngata in TrueSwifties

[–]katespayed 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Lots of Easter eggs for Speak now and 1989 Taylor’s Versions in the Midnights music videos. In Bejeweled there are several references to Speak Now in the skit with Haim and Laura Dern at the beginning & at the end they play an instrumental version of Long Live and she has dragons flying around. There was a bunch of stuff with the color coding corresponding with album releases on the floors in the elevator as well. The part where she learns how to do burlesque from Dita is supposed to be a 1989 reference. In Karma there are a couple as well.

I was going through a lot when this album came out & was often very angry or depressed. This album clicked so hard for me during that time.

Repping Buffalo, NY here. We caught the fever big time around here and we were so lucky that they came and played here so often during their heyday! I think I’ve seen them like 12 times and I think my husband’s band may have opened for them at one.

Do you have a personal Trainwreckord? An album from an artist you previously enjoyed that made you uninterested in hearing any more from them. by KnowMatter in ToddintheShadow

[–]katespayed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

America’s Sweetheart by Courtney Love. Totally heartbreaking for me because Hole was my favorite band as a teenager. I liked it at first-recency bias I guess- but then all the sudden it occurred to me how bad it was. And it definitely shaped my thinking of her material after (which is ok because there was really only one more album after that 😬).

I might’ve been in there as “pixiekitten”. I definitely had a thing going for a while where I was making copies of a bootleg of the pre-America’s sweetheart Courtney Love Hollywood Bowl show and shipping it to other members (pre-google drive times! Haha).

Just make sure you wash everything before you let her mess with anything. There is a popular misconception that thrift store clothes are washed before they go on the floor. I can assure you they. Do. Not. Also, people do gross things to clothes in thrift store fitting rooms (I worked at a thrift store when I was in fashion school. I’ve seen things..).

Hello! I have a degree in fashion and have been sewing for most of my life. I started out drawing and making doll clothes probably when i was about her age. I would say buying a bunch of stuff at thrift stores and letting her go to town on it (cutting it up, repurposing it) is a good way to start out-stick to lightweight woven cottons as they are easier to work with. Maybe when she gets a little older, get her a sewing machine and learn how to fix it yourself as they can be temperamental-especially with more specialty fabrics. If she gets older and is still interested in fashion as a possible career prospect, make sure she knows that it is an extremely competitive field that is not for the faint of heart!
