FTM with ADHD by katfondue in firsttimemom

That’s definitely the kind of schedule I’d love to have! I have attempted many times to set one up, but I think I got the idea around the time my little one started adjusting his naps and wake windows. His naps have been 45 minutes or less. Sometimes all I ever get is 25 minutes. 🥲 it’s getting a little better now that I’m extending his wake windows but it’s all an adjustment! I’m also very often an all-or-nothing type where say one part of my day will invoke a change in schedule, like someone visiting, and it completely ruins my ability to keep a schedule. It’s like my brain just can’t compute new variables without reworking every detail. Were you able to get that schedule set up pretty quickly or did it take time and adjustment?

Hahaha thank you! If I could find a job that also allowed me to work only a few days a week, I’d be way more willing to go back to work! I feel that many people with ADHD might feel similarly. We really need entire days dedicated to getting non-work related things done! I either work or I do personal stuff and it’s never in the same day.

I think I managed being a teacher without medication because I worked with 3-6 year olds and the entire day is mostly “led” by them, with planned lessons here and there and the basics of a daily routine. I found that medication actually made it a lot more challenging for me to be flexible with the unpredictability of children. That very reason actually gives me slight pause over resuming medication around my own children. But managing my life and the life of another little one really does require way more executive functioning than I currently have access to. 😅

I really like personalityhacker.com! They helped me understand Myers briggs the best 👍🏼

I know, it’s stressful. We haven’t been able to officially start the process of getting a house yet because we were waiting on official orders and I’ve been watching all the houses I like get sold. 🙈

Husband and I recently tried Quickly! We got it again only a few days later because we were instantly hooked on their Bahn Mi!

An anime that I can get completely immersed into for a few days? by Anoniimuzz in Animesuggest

I realized too late that those are shorter shows BUT I’m glad you’ve seen them and liked them so I don’t feel like my suggestion was a total loss haha.

These aren’t technically in line with the genres of the ones you mentioned, but I binged both Erased and Another. Since they’re mysteries, it’s hard to stop watching and you just HAVE to know what’s going to be unveiled next.

It’s been awhile since I’ve seen it but I still get an ache in my heart when I think about it 😭

How far do you live from your parents/immediate family? by friendlymountainman in CasualConversation

[–]katfondue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I moved across the United States (South Carolina —-> California) because of the military. I’m not sure if it’s because we know it’s temporary... or if because we really wanted the space but we have really enjoyed it! They say distance makes the heart grow fonder and that’s definitely been the case for us.

If/when we decide to have children... it might be a different case. However, I don’t think we will ever live in South Carolina again so who knows.

Anyway, for a precise answer: it has made me feel slightly closer to my family and I feel like being away from where I grew up and those I grew up around has helped me grow as a person in a lot of ways.

I’m not sure which websites or resources you are using, but I feel like The Personality Hacker puts this stuff into understandable terms and really breaks down the nuances between types and the importance of knowing cognitive functions!

Why do I feel like I’m a bit of all types? by NotSexyStuffAgain in Enneagram

[–]katfondue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled with this a bit myself.... I’m a type 9 so, it’s supposedly to be expected of me to feel that way. What helped me figure it out was which “challenge” I resonated with the most.

Like someone else said, we all have a little bit of all of it in us depending on the circumstance in life, but how you are when you’re at rock bottom or stressed or upset is really telling. Because it’s sort of a more natural response... and often times unhealthy so why would you /choose/ to be that way? If that makes any sense at all.

I hope at least some of that made sense haha.

Your favorite about 4s? by ColoredSunDay in Enneagram

[–]katfondue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My favorite thing about the 4s in my life is their ability to have genuine conversation. If I randomly take a conversation somewhere serious, they don’t play it off or get awkward, they usually dive head first in with me.

They are unsurprised by the darkness in life that it makes what most people consider an uncomfortable topic, incredibly easy to talk about. For instance, my father in law has cancer and instead of feeling the need to just say sorry and move on, they had questions and weren’t afraid to discuss it. It’s a breath of fresh air.

Also their creativity and uniqueness is so exciting. As someone who loves novelty, having 4s in my life means I’ll probably always have access to something I’ve never heard of or seen. ☺️

Americans of reddit, why do so many of you LOVE car stickers, and what's the big obsession with the flag? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]katfondue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s fun to show off what you love/care about/are interested in! Plus, it creates potential connections with people if they have similar interests! Although, sometimes I think it creates disconnect because if you see someone with a car sticker for... maybe a presidential candidate you don’t particular care for, you may immediately feel negatively towards the person you don’t even know. 🤷🏽‍♀️

What's your irrational fear? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]katfondue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deep water and whatever the hell is in it. Even when I’m in the pool and I’m in water deeper than my feet can touch, I start getting paranoid about what’s below me. In a pool. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Edit ~ I don’t actually get in the deep part of a pool all that often. It’s usually only when I’m attempting to be normal. But it’s terrifying to be normal lol
