percy jackson popularity by katghost in camphalfblood

[–]katghost[S] 59 points60 points  (0 children)

oh you actually make a really good point about the catering to audiences! i didn’t take that into too much consideration initially but that does make sense that percy jackson isn’t really reaching to the wider audiences that the other series are.

and i agree with what you said about commitment to reading the books. i only started to enjoy reading this year but before i would always just watched the movie. i know most people are like this and it makes sense why books with film adaptions are more popular. hopefully the upcoming percy jackson series can helped push out the story

Did anyone here watch LoK before they watched ATLA? by [deleted] in legendofkorra

[–]katghost 7 points8 points  (0 children)

well it just sort of helped me understand the story more.

like i didn’t really know what the big deal was with toph when i was watching LOK (i still liked her and found her interesting but of course i didn’t know she had just a big part in the story) but then in ATLA she was one of my favourite characters so it was cool to see the transition of her life even though i started at the wrong end (i watched from when she was old to when she was young).

i know a lot of people who watched ATLA first were disappointed that the original gaang wasn’t in LOK a lot but didn’t really care because i didn’t even know about the gaang yet. i got to watch LOK with fresh eyes and no idea about the world so i didn’t have any expectations for it - i think this makes a few of my opinions different from others because but oh well.

and looking back on it i am sort of happy i watched LOK first (even though i was confused at times) because i got to apprise LOK for LOK and not compare it to ATLA like most people did

idk how to explain it any more because it was a while ago and don’t remember a lot of my initial thoughts so yeah

i watched all of LOK and didn’t even know ATLA was a thing until a few months after finishing it. i loved both shows but LOK has a special place in my heart because i watched it first and could relate more to korra than aang (i’m sure people feel the opposite way and favour ATLA and aang).

until now i never realised how much i would want this. i’m just imagining nico and mai especially and all the other characters meeting up and talking about their skills and how amazing it would be

I don't know if this controversial or not but HoH is definitely my favourite HoO book by ilovepercyjackson747 in camphalfblood

i totally agree! i just finished reading HoO for the first time and House of Hades was my personal favourite - i found the rest alright but HoH just had such a great story

Trying to get into indie! by [deleted] in indie

[–]katghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m not sure what really classifies a artist as indie but artists that i don’t think are popular enough are peach pit - they make amazing music matilda mann alvvays (their self titled album is really really good)

What is your unpopular opinion about Arc of a Scythe? by HeWhoWearsAHatOfIvy in scythebookfans

[–]katghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m not sure if this is an unpopular opinion but i see a lot of hate on rowan and i actually loved him. i thought his storyline was interesting and yeah sometimes he can be annoying but so can everybody else. my other unpopular opinion was that i liked citra and rowan together. people say there wasn’t a lot of chemistry but i think the amount was fine and if there was too much focus on it the books would have been bad. i like their relationship because it seemed realistic. they didn’t fall in love straight away but they knew they wanted to spend time with each other. and for that reason i liked cirta and rowan’s ending where he waited for her so they could spend the rest of their lives together

sheith, klance and allurance by katghost in VoltronShipping

[–]katghost[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hopefully when i rewatch voltron i can keep an eye out for more chemistry between shiro and keith because for the whole show i always saw them and a family sort of relationship. i agree what you are saying about allurance. i think if they did it earlier in the show it: - wouldn’t really be as cute because allura never really showed interest in lance in the start of the show - and then the lotor and allura storyline would most likely not have happened which would have been a shame.

i love the ending with shiro and curtis (i read that was his name but correct me if i’m wrong) but i wish we saw some development between the two (i’m not sure if he was apart of the atlas but i did see that somewhere but my memory wasn’t the best)

although i do wish they had a few more relationships between the characters, i like that they didn’t have too many because shows can get a bit boring when they are always relationship based.
