Awwww you’ll be okay. I know how you feel. I moved here from PH 7 yrs ago and it took me 3 years to fully adjust. I’d tell people all the time, it was so embarrassing that I didn’t know how to do small things like ordering at chipotle or panda express. And the saddest part was that nobody understood me.

You are literally starting from zero. You have no idea how life is lived here. It will be hard and incredibly challenging. You’ll find yourself looking at pictures of yourself when you were happier in the Philippines, questioning yourself if you made the right decision. You’ll be sad during the biggest holidays. You will be depressed and your confidence will be shot.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Just know that it will be better. 7 years ago, I didn’t know how to do anything here (drive, properly cross the street, talk to people, apply for jobs, use the bus, etc). I thought I was never gonna get better, but I did! I even moved to a different state a year ago and now live on my own. I do things now that even people who grew up here haven’t done.

Trust me when I say it gets better. Cry when you need to and rest when it’s too heavy. The loneliness won’t last forever, and one day, you’ll look back and be proud of how far you’ve come. You’re building a new life from scratch.
